Graphic wreck

What makes people want to share **** like this? If you don't know what the outcome of "body v's guardrail" is going to be....well!

I watch the occasional crash video so that I never second guess ATGATT in the heat.

Unfortunately, gear wouldn't help too much in a situation like that.

Hate seeing all the people standing around not trying to keep the guy from moving making his injuries worse. They are most likely in shock as well.

Holding / fighting him down is only going to cause more injury. You just have to try to talk him into staying still and do what you can with obvious, treatable injuries while moving him as little as possible.

After I was done my paramedic course in the army, the bus I was in was stopped at a red light. I glanced over to the left and saw a biker, I then blink and see a car lose control and drive right into the biker. It was one of the most graphic things I've ever seen in my life. We were all in shock but ran outside with our bags. The biker lost the lower part of his body and his whole abdomen was open. It was only a matter of minutes before the biker was going to die, all we could do was administer morphine and hold his hand-which we did.

It's very sad to see these types of things. We all ride because of how enjoyable it is. Most of us forget how dangerous it is, not because of how we ride but because of everyone and everything around us. It's scary how everything can change in a blink of an eye.

If it was me, I would cut the circulation to the legs from right above the open wound.
Would it be bloody- yes
Will it hurt- extremely
Will it increase the chance he stays alive- yes!

If someone is ever in this situation, take off our shirt, grab a pen or some sort of hard stick, put it around the victims limb. Than measure one hand length upward from the limb and make one knot. Place the rod and then tie another knot. Now comes the painful part, start twisting the rod. the twisting will squeeze the limb and stop circulation (stop him/her from bleeding out). Once you tie it, DO NOT loosen it! You can than secure it so that it doesnt fall off with another knot.

I really hope no one ever has to do it, but it seems that in this situation it would have been the right call and may have saved his life.

Poor guy, ride safe everyone...

too much information for the average person, no one wants to get sued for malpractice.

I think that guy was wearing a modular helmet.

Good Samaritan law. Can't get sued for anything you do where you're assisting an injured/in distress person. Same thing that saves you if you break someone's ribs administering CPR.

I believe that is called a tourniquet and everyone should know how to make/use one anyway.

It works but you you should really only use it in extreme situations because it is almost guaranteed that the limb will have to be amputated.

Only if it's left for an extended amount of time, I believe somewhere along the lines of 24+ hours.

@Sued comment for malpractice:
-I'd rather get sued than stand by and let a person die. If I get sued I can still sleep semi-o.k at night. If I let a person die while sitting around and doing nothing, no chance I'll be able to sleep. To each his own...

Actually its only a few hours at most.

Some say forty-five minutes and CLS (Combat Life Saver) manual says two hours without major complications.

"
Ethiopian-born Adib Ibrahim" I think what he is suggesting is pretty accurate. The fact that we let scumbags like that into our country doesn't change the fact that for the most part we are far more civilized than them.

+1 We got enough of our own home reared scum bags (Luka Rocco Magnotta); real civillized net savvy scum bags, the type that keep out the filthy uncivilized foreigner scum.

Guilt is hell.

Go on theync.com those guys out him to shame. I like how you twist what I'm saying, somehow implying that I would defend what that ********** did.

Ah yes the race card, was waiting for someone to bring out that gem. I guess with your declaration of my racism that you would deny the claims that people from different Parts of the world have varying cultural values. Please tell me this is what you think so I can laugh at you, or just flat out admit that perhaps you're a bit "racist" as well.

I'm loving how you guys are comparing some of Canada's worst to immigrants. Don't set the bar too high now guys. God forbid we expect decent humans to be let into our country.

So our "scumbags" are "Canada's worst criminals", but an immigrant criminal is (normal and indicative of) a foreign uncivilized cultural standard?
