GPS suitable for Motorcycles

It's stupid to buy a "motorcycle GPS" for an exorbitant amount of money ($600) when I just took my regular TomTom from my car, bought a ram mount for my bike for $12.99 and installed it, it works wonderfully and I have a huge colorful 5.7 inches screen near my speedometer that helps me navigate day/night. I wired it directly to my bike's battery using a $9.99 usb adaptor I bought from a flea market.

Where did you get the ram mount?

I just used a refurb 265w I've had for a few years on a 2,600 mile road trip to NC/TN without any issues. I suction cupped it to the inside of my windscreen and powered it off the bikes battery. Ziplock bagged it for the rainy times. It was hot & shaken and didn't skip a beat. Cost me $135.

And it worked fine with the gloves on.

Decided to go for the 220 .... since it came with all the mounts and chargers ... Im sure the 550 is not much far off. Either way good purchase, thanks to all for recommendations.

Nuvi 500 or 550
Best motorcycle gps for the money hands down.

I disagree, Garmin 2720 for my money can't be beat. Maps can be updated to the latest and I much prefer the interface to the newer garmins. Can be found for under $100 on e-bay, ram mount and wiring harness will run you around $50 if I remember right.

It's also the size of a brick should you want to throw it at someone
