General: All returns must be postmarked no later than 30 days from the original customer shipment date. Returns and exchanges must be in new condition and must include all instructions and original packing material. Customer pays all return shipping charges. Include a copy of your packing list with all returns.

Original shipping and handling charges are not refundable. Returns must be preauthorized by us and are subject to a 25% re-stocking fee. These amounts will be deducted from the original amount billed and the remaining balance will be credited to the original credit card.

25% re-stocking fee on anything? Really? GTFO.

What's the point of your post? I can google-search countless millions of random facts, quote them in a post and then say, "Really? GTFO." Are you asking the users of GTAM to confirm this? If so, it's simply wiser to confirm with GPBikes directly? Then, when you've heard from the horse's mouth - let the community know the answer. That would be helpful.

Perhaps you just posted for the sake of it - looking for people to share your rage?

It's actually worth you calling to confirm, because I've ordered stuff from them knowing (after having asked/confirmed) that if I didn't like it or it didn't fit there was no penalty of any kind. GPBikes is fantastic in my books, and far from the hell-hole of other vendors like Rider's Choice.

It's not random fact. It's related to one of the biggest retailers in our area.
Why would I call to confirm? It's confirmed, I quoted their website.
Why did I post it? To show why I don't shop locally when it comes to motorcycle gear. Dealers cry all the time that we shop in the US. Well here's why.

open your our own business and GTFO

No need to. motorcyclesuperstore.com has an excellent return policy.

Don't be narrow minded, I have returned stuff from GPbikes and never was charged a restocking fee, in fact I dont even know it exists.

Well now you do... good heads up on the posting

Why not just drive there so you can try the item?

As others have said no matter what the site says it really does depend -- I've had everything from having to pay, to not paying, to having them credit my account (since I know I'll buy more stuff from them in future).

9 times out of 10 though, if an item is going to be hard to near impossible to re-sell, they'll make you pay the restocking fee. If it is something they know they can sell as new and it'll be gone quickly, they are normally more open to waiving it for you (esp if you are returning to get something else from them -- I did this when swapping the super-bulky Icon Stryker knee guards for a pair of Dainese Knee Vs).

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not entirely sure everyone would have gotten this specific intent from the few words you posted.

And if you had any experience with the retailer you'd know the return policy is seldom if ever enforced as written. What's your beef with GP? This isn't even a review.

Why not just drive there so you can try the item?

Or call to have the item brought in to the store. Hell, they'll even ship it to you.

GP has been amazing with regards to their return policy for me. Sometimes I'm not sure if an item will fit amd thev've ordered two different sizes for me with no commitments. I've never had any issues returning items. Never paid a restocking fee.

The reason restocking fees are sometimes not enforced is that the retailer is taking the part/accessory/whatever back and will be able to resell it fairly easily. If they have to send it back to the supplier, the supplier charges the dealer/retailer 25%. No business will accept that loss, especially when they may not be able to resell the product anytime soon (if it's a unique item, or some bizarre colour...).

I work for an autoparts jobber and we charge a restock fee on special order parts only. It covers the return shipping and fees we pay. I will not have someones change of heart cost me money :)

+1
Exactly what I was going to say.

I stand corrected. I called them in the morning and they were really pleasant. Usually there is no 25% restocking fee.

I understand restocking fee on special order items, but I find 25% restocking fee on stocked items ourageous. They should clarify their terms on the website.

The item sold out by the time I called them in the morning :(

These days manufacturers are full of crap. Products have ridiculous claims, downright ********. I only order from places that have a reasonable return policy to protect myself from all the crappy products.

Stop buying crap and you won't have to return it.

Sure, I will also grow a gut to avoid fit issues with touring oriented gear

or go into a store, try it on, and buy it there. That works too. Prices have come a long way the past few years and now *most* stuff is comparable to it's US counterpart.
