Enjoy. I second the statement about keeping the vintage paint intact.

One thing you should check that I wonder about in the photo is to verify whether the tires are stock and if so, if the front has enough tread. In the photo it looks like the rear has plenty but looks different from the front. If its the original tire you need a new tire. :)

Both tires are new, the photo definitely makes the front look like it has much less tread. I'd be so paranoid getting on a bike with balding tires.. As if there isn't enough to be paranoid about as a new rider, ha. The paint will stay, I don't see any reason to change it. Dude did a great job cleaning her up for me. :)

photo (3).jpgThis is my current daily bike, an old cibblet 250 from 88. Revs to 20k rpm and has 4 cylinders.. pretty fun.

photo (2).jpg This is my dads bike.. needs work but one day it'll be on the street.. believe it's a yamaha? not sure.

As of today I am the proud owner of this gorgeous machine. 1973 Honda CB350F. I am so excited to get my hands dirty.
But until that's required.. I'll be learning how to ride!

That bike is cherry. Way to nice for ham fisted precrashed no0b.

Oh lol
I guess I forgot to mention that I used to live with the landlord (very good friend).

So, with the order of events:

Landlord buys it for $4k - it was rusty and had a few missing parts here and there.
He then brings all missing parts (originals) together, and fixes in a shop for $2k.
Lets it sit for a year or two.
Sells it for $20k.

The buyer paid for import + transport costs as well.

This was one of 70 Desmos that came to North America in 1971 (?). And perhaps the one in best condition today @ 750miles.

20k is quite acceptable for that bike in this market, look up current prices for a bevel drive 750 duc right now, its 30k for a beater.

You need to keep in mind as collectable classics, while Honda (and the other Japanese) was producing in the hundreds of thousands, the Italians were building a couple thousand, and that was in a great year. Its only in about the last 15 years that Ducati went to a station build production system, not two guys building one bike at a time.

Is 81 too new to be vintage? Definitely a moderen classic. Anyway original paint and pipes. Got it for a steal.

Wow... that's a good looking bike! Lots of character in the old bikes, my '72 had the original owners manual wrapped in plastic and stowed in the little "hatch" under the seat, which I thought was pretty cool considering she'd sat outside for years.

Feel free to post a few more pictures.

Funny, 20 years ago 60s 70s bikes were vintage, and now some still insist that this is so.
Anything older than 1985 is considered vintage or classic by insurance companies.

Yea people with their heads stuck in their *** dont want to open their special little brand to others. A Few 80's bikes I have an 82 GS400 as my vintage ride. Not quite dont but she running and most of the moving parts have been replaced.

BITD, everyone wanted one of these. Finally got one a few years back.

How disgusting to treat a classic like that .

Most of these Helmut Muthe -designed Katanas have been abused. People in Ontario take very poor care of their bikes in general. Far different from England, where a 40 yr old bike typically looks like its off the showroom.
That bike is actually complete and could be restored, but no one will pay for what it will cost to do that. Yet.

Does anyone know who owns this, is it for sale, would the owner sell it, or is he just leaving it to the elements....?

.

I suggest go to 401 Richmond West, it's a large old building converted into studio offices. Walk around to the back parking lot, it's probably there. Get the VIN, buy a UVIP and try to contact the last registered owner.

As seen at Haugen's bike meet. A Triton beside a supercharged Norton.
