well Today i was out riding here in cambridge. I was stopped at a red light. all of a sudden BAM my bike gets pushed forward from behind. I was in gear and had my brakes applied so i wasnt pushed very far. I was thrown off balance and the bike started to fall on the left side. I was able to let it down slowly but still scuffed up the frame slider. Threw my hands up in disbelief traffic didnt move there was only 1 lane because of construction. Brought the bike to my local dealer. 320$ worth of parts. i need a right passenger footpeg and scraped my adj. clutch lever, left frameslider and left mirror. Turns out he thought traffic was moving but it wasnt and he bumped my rear tire on the left side then proceeded up the tire hitting my plate then the right passenger footpeg. Turned out to just be cosmetic witch im glad about. anyways a story isnt any good without a picture

I had that same thing happen two summers ago - but it was a dump truck behind me!! Take a good look at your whole tail piece, I had cracks in the bodywork underneath that I didn't even find until a couple of months later. Too late to collect from the driver ;o(

ironicly i was on my way to my local dealer. They even sent out a pickup to pick me up since my brother previously worked there as sales manager. they checked over the bike very minor damage i dont know how though. but parts were scraped by dropping the bike so im looking at 320 for parts. i can live with a few scratches but the driver insisted on not going theu insurance. I think i might just cuz they seem to not want police involved. gave a cash payout deadline for sat at 3 if not ill be at the local police station making my report with in 48h

Doubt they're worried about the police. What they're worried about most likely is a claim. $500 or $5000 doesn't matter, it's still a claim on their record for the next 10 years. No reason to go through insurance.

I would go through insurance, that will teach the careless idiot driver a lesson so maybe next time he or she will pay more attention.

Make sure the subframe isnt bent up.

For sure.it will make these guys pay more attention to driving

Judge the person. If they seem fine I"d let them go without insurance. One day it may or has already happened to you. A mistake that is.

At least you didn't get hurt. A couple of weeks ago, my first bike got clipped at 50kph. I was able to bail out when I saw what was about to happen. I walked away without any injuries. The bike though is completely roughed up. No main frames were damage except for the seat frame support, mainly the fairings and pegs. So I"m planning on converting it to a streetfighter or naked :)

Glad you're okay. Did the guy pay up?

Do you work for an insurance company? What is the point of going through insurance for $320? It makes no sense. Deductible is usually $500-$1000, so the guy who rear-ended him will be paying everything out of pocket anyway. Why make a claim? The only winner here is the insurance company who can now overcharge the guy for a claim they didn't pay for at all...

No actually. the guy who rear ended will be paying nothing at the moment but an increased rate starting next renewal + a couple more years. The OP has to pay the deductibles so he losses money, assuming the damage was $320, or if its under whatever his deductibles are.

Thats wrong, the OP has no fault on him at all which means the other drivers insurance will cover the OP's deductible and if the other driver claims damage to his vehicle then he will have to pay his own deductible.

You really don't get it do you? My post was pretty simple to understand even for a 12 year old. Reporting him has nothing to do with money, it has everything to do with making him suffer a little bit for his stupidity and making him pay a little more attention next time.
