Got my renewal today from Javco-Intact.....

I don't have any tickets and I bought a brand new bike and just got M1. I'm 22. My 79 Camaro and 2011 Ranger are only 250 a month. 375+ a month for a 125 is retarded but it's the price you are willing to pay to ride. People whine and cry; don't ride or get a good job lol.

Then either facility's prices went up for first year small displacement bikes or you're with the wrong insurance company cause you're getting royally ripped a new hole..

Hi guys,
so got my renewal papers today Intact (Javco) and for some reason my premium went up from 681$ to 840$ last year went up some 50$ this year 159$ (No Comprehensive and No Collision). I have M license, clean record, 36 years old, riding 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50. Should I start shopping around or im ok?
Thanks

That's a whopping 23% increase...I'd shop around.

I'm not paying for Intact's acquisition of Jevco so I'm considering TD's quote for my SV, about $500 bucks less than what the other guy wants.

Intact is looking to get into the motorcycle business?? Lmao!!! I was with Jevco (jevico, javco, jeronimo) since I bought my bike new a few years ago. Intact came along, reclassified my bike, and cut me loose. Spotless record, zero claims, over 40. Best thing that could ever happen. Followed the advice of some friends on this site and called Medha from Allstate. Saving over $200/yr with same full coverage. The only catch is you have to be over 30 I believe. Her number is in the "jevico" thread or pm me.

TD quoted me the same price I was paying with Jevco all these years and that's with bundling my other properties. Allstate is my bike only.

When I took my course with RTI, one of the instructors essentially said that you should shop around for insurance every year. Even if your renewal came in at the same price, it only takes a couple hours of one day to make a few calls for quotes, and who knows, you could find someone else for a couple hundred bucks less.

Now for those with insurance under 500$/year this tactic may not be worth spending half a day on the phone to save 50$, but for anyone in the 1000$/year range or higher, definitely could be worth it.

Damn, I'm with them as well and from what I've been reading about this so far its got me pretty shook. My renewal is in April, I guess back on the insurance hunt I go :(

Hi guys,
so I have some good news, made some calls and finally got what i was looking for, Desjardins 687$.
Thank you all.

I am wondering if the insurance is normally tied to your auto? I am thinking of a scooter to start, or a modest used 125 or thereabouts for starters.

Is there a list of preferred insurance companies? Do they still offer discounted rates if you have proof of having undertaken a ministry approved riding course?

Thanks.

$4000 for a 125 is nowhere reasonable. Did you even shop for insurance?

In terms of claims and tickets, insurance will take those in to account when getting quotes with them.
In terms of getting your vehicle insured, its your choice of whether you want to bundle up your car and motorcycle. Insurance companies usually offer multi-vehicle discounts when you do so.

As for who to call, just follow the chart on this thread, it is pretty accurate: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...-Insurance-Company-will-give-me-the-best-rate

I called a few companies and asked about discounted rates for riding courses and so far no one cared. Only TD asks if you've taken a course but you dont get a discount from it.

Jevco is going up 20% in or around April and they are dropping anyone with just motorcycle insurance. You have to have your car/house or such with them ..

Where are you pulling this from? Jevco got sold to Intact. I only had my motorcycle underwritten with Jevco via John R Duffy. I got my renewal papers from Intact late last week and nothing's changed, my rate is the exact same. The only difference is they've changed me from a compressed payment period to paying every month of the year.

Edit: I just quoted with Desjardins, $5700 for my Monster 696. Uhh...yeah no thanks. (27, G1M2, no claims, no tickets, Toronto)

that's good to hear, I hope its the same when my renewal comes around in couple months. Just to let you know Intact charges a 3% fee for the 12 monthly payments. Not on every one, just overall and only for people with only a bike. You can avoid it if you pay up front or choose the 3 payment option. Pay at renewal, then 3 months later, then 6 months later but the 3% is probably peanuts anyways...
