Got My M1 !!

Thanks 7 Im eying out 250's right now. Likely a Ninja, Ill ride for about 2 seasons and would like to hop on a older gen 600 ss at some point. Always loved the 99 style R6 in red/white/black. The 600 Ninja's in kawi green are a beaut too. So many bikes out there tho....... Im excited, wish class was sooner lol

You'll be surprised by how much you can learn in two days .. Knowing standard transmission (clutch, friction point) really helps but the majority of the group in my course didn't know. Only 2 out of 30 didn't pass.
They teach you one basic after another and before you know it.. You're already riding.

I did the 250-650 (650 is not SS) upgrade last year. 9000+km on the 250 gave me the confidence to ride.. You just gotta be more gentle with the power.. Depending on what bike you upgrade to.. It's usually just getting used to the power and the gearing/shifting is obviously different... I found I had to shift alot on the 250..
Every bike is different in some way.. But knowing how to ride is ultimately the same. Definitely glad I started with the 250 tho!! Good luck

Anything you don't like about the 650, coming from the 250? Which bike btw?

Ninja 250 to ninja 650 .. The only thing I didn't like were the handle bars.. The 250 had a more aggressive seating position.
I rode the 650 stock last year (it's considered a sport tourer/street) pretty comfortable for longer rides .. But it was awkward to tuck in..
The bars were too high and my elbows would stick out or point down ( short guy 5'4").. Changed the bars a few weeks ago to sport bars.. Position is a good balance between stock and SS .. Similar to the 250.. Other than that I did notice the weight difference of 75lbs .. Pro is that its stable at high speeds even in the wind.. Con.. It's heavy at low speeds.. But still nimble all around

Lmao, Ya I bought a Alpinestars from the board here. Its even nicer then the Joe Rocket. I was going to keep it for a lady friend or gf to use but might sell it.

BLASPHEMY! HEATHEN!!

Congrats on the M1

Thanks guys, you guys can enjoy it more since you have bikes! Are hiking boots ok for the course as long as there over the heel ? I only have work boots which are over the heel and dont want to wear those

I'd ask but I don't think their be a problem. I wore my work boots and I regret doing it, I couldn't feel my shifter the first time I hopped on.

Thats the exact reason I dont want to wear mine. I drive a truck and sometimes cant even feel hitting the brake, never mind a shifter

ouff hate to be a party killer but if you're planning to get a bike after your m2 it'd already be august small riding season :(

Better then nothing. I have my eyes on a bike and should have it in possession friday. Hope to just learn the basics this summer

Hey do you guys know how much insurance for a 26 year old rider with clean record, M1, and a 2008 honda cbr600rr would be around?

Over the heel? You gonna squid it in loafers? :P I'm just poking fun, they need to be over the ankle... and yes hiking boots are fine.

Awww yeeeeeh OP!! Congrats on the license brah. I just got mine recently too and I've been nothing but smiles since. Good luck out there, have fun, stay safe :).

I am 27 years old with G1M2 (first riding season this year).

I am riding a CBR125 2008.

I am paying $1300/year.

So you can expect to pay less than I if you have full G2/G.

Well, except the 600RR will be a lot more than a 125.

Im so enthused and stoked. I can recall being in the 4th grade and playing with my Kawasaki Ninja ZX6r and R6 models outside on the playground. Always had a passion for cars/trucks/bikes etc. The test was much easier then I had anticipated. After years of wanting to get a motorcycle im that much closer.

Signing up for the course this weekend thru the CMA guys. Just wanted to share my joy. Its been a great day!

Welcome :) ride safe
