Got my m1 yaaay!!! Any yorku riders?

i wanted to get gs500f too but high insurance lol u go to york too? where do riders park their bikes at yorku. i wanna drive mine there during the summer after i get more experience. btw anyone took cbr125 on allen road before. i will be driving from downtown but wont get on the highway just on allen road through eglinton

We all park between TEL and S. Freeeeeeee parking!!!
I've road w/ a friend on hwy 7 before w/ a CBR125. He was redlined at 110ish but he's also like...6'3 lol Think you might have an easier time than him but the top speed will probably still be bad; just stay in the slow lane and you'll be okay.

black?!?

If so... i probably know you lmao.

Probably, you have a 250 right? =D (Which one? <_<)

i want to skip 125 and 250 and get the gs500f but im a student and cant spend now more but will get the gs500f soon when i save up

Insurance on the GS500F last year for me was 3200 for the year; the bike was 3800. I can see why you wouldn't want to get a bigger bike due to insurance issues. It'll drop down a lot next year assuming Jevco doesn't do anything too stupid (I was 24 with a clean record last year).

Oh, and warning about these boards: don't let the attitude of members here affect what you think of riders. Every rider I've met irl has been nice and many of them stopped visiting these boards due to attitude problems on here <_< I'm only saying this because my gf and another female friend visited these boards and told me they didn't want to get into riding due to the impression of riders the members here gave them.

Pretty sure sushi knows what I'm talking about =P

if i drive to school i will park there too its amazing that parking is free around downtown and over there :D

ya im not planning to take it on the highway anytime soon or try to drive it above 100 because it gets shaky from what i heard. i just want to be able to drive on allen road which is like 80km max speed i think.
oh ya insurance for gs500f is crazy. i got a quote from td for the cbr125 188/month thats because im starting in july so just 5 months payment but for gs i got wayyy higher like 377/month lol

so far almost everyone was really nice and helped me in understanding how to get a bike and what to look for. so for sure others wont affect me . there is always the good and bad but riders here r great so far and helped me alot :D

we should go riding together around york or downtown ;)

thanks. i think i saw ur bike before parked infront of ace right? ya i saw a lot of bikes parked there but wasnt sure if its allowed because some ppl said they got a ticket over there before. i always see a bike parked right infront of schulich a red kawasaki i think.
Naw wouldn't have been me, I've seen bikes parked at various places around York but knowing York parking authority and my luck I don't risk it and just park between TEL and Seneca.

Though I haven't ridden my bike yet due to no training or insurance on my bike (all set for July! :D) I have read enough post on this from to suggest you not hit the 80+ speeds till you're absolutely comfortable riding the streets on the GTA, specifically Toronto. I live close the Allen Expressway to say its not that user friendly for beginners, IMO. Very busy during rush hours both way, and being that the road is pretty much linear the entire stretch, speeding there is noticeable high. Again, learn at your own pace and eventually when you're ready, you're ready.

Same here all in July. Ya I'm gonna learn first and get enough experience before riding on any highway won't be anytime soon that will drive my bike on Allen road. But I drove there before with a car wasn't that bad but on a bike will be totally different. I just want to be able sometimes to ride to school when I got enough experience to change lanes and so

Okay =D

I think there's a motorcycle club at York that just started too.

livetoride_merc@live.com

That should be the email. I'll PM my # in a sec. I'm at York 9-5 Monday to Friday in TEL...there's also another GS500 rider with the same schedule as me in TEL lol

lol I don't know if that specifically applies to the 125 but when I started riding last year there's a 2-4 week period where you're not very comfortable on the bike or speed yet. I got "hump" by forcing myself onto the highway lol

But the further south you go the more difficult it will be I imagine due to population increase.

there is so much people at york, ill be back to school in september. Get a 250 atleast thats what I went with, the 600 was killer on insurance for me.
Next year i turn 25 so for now im on my lawn mower they call a cbr250 lol. fun bike in the city, great commuter just sounds funny because its a one cylinder.
enjoy riding.

600 is a killer on insurance and also not good for beginners. im going with the 125 because i cant afford the 250 for now and dont like the ninja 250 look. ya cbr 125 and 250 r good for the city . thanks u too

as for insurance statefarm was the cheapest for me. if your under 25, your probably looking at about 80/month bucks for a 125, i pay 160 for the 250

What exactly is the difference between the 125 and the 250 other than engine displacement ? Will a newbie rider like myself notice the differences between the two ?

when it comes to riding I didnt notice a difference the 250 is just as easy to ride and handle as the 125. also very forgiving for mistakes you may make in the start

State farm won't take me because I got g2 only. I never tred 250 but everyone says its faster and better on highways but cbr125 is better around corners.
Anyone knows from where I can get a clear visor I got a helmet but can't find the clear visor only the dark one :S

The brand and model of the helmet would help. ;)

If you can afford the insurance: start on a...

GS500(F)(E)
Gladius
SV650(S)
Ninja 400
Ninja 650

They are JUST as forgiving but have a lot more power when you need it, but not enough that you will get yourself in to massive doo doo. I've ridden 3 of them in there...tho Gladius and SV650 are kinda the same bike.
