Congrats, welcomeAlready looked into. You are correct the new Rebels are more expensive which on turn will be more in insurance. Further they are newer bikes. Most of the VStars are early 2000s vs the Rebels late 2010s. I believe the first restyle is 2017.
Congrats, welcome
Rebel 500 is sweet never cared for Vstar 650. Have you ever considered the R3 or the Ninja 400?
I love both those bikes. My girlfriends R3 is a blast to ride very well engineered bike.
Congrats! you now have the right to pay more taxes and insurance like the rest of us
imho You will ride better faster on the Rebel 500it has more standard motorcycle ergonomics then a couch-potato cruiser, just as the CBR500 has more standard egos then an Italian crotch rocket and for a beginner that is a good thing.
Ride well and safe this coming ? season.
PS ... if you don't know how to service a carburetor or where to get one fixed free, buy a fuel injection bike.
with a windshield I ca do 800km days easy. First bike I got had no windshield, was fun, though I won't get a bike without one now, simply because all the summer bugs end up on the windshield rather than my visor
