I have a gift card for $250, and i cant afford anymore then the price of those two which is $299. Now i had a gopro hero before and i have an extra battery and some other accessories that wont work with the 3. with that being said, is the 3 that much better then the 2, or should i just buy the 2 so i can use the spare battery i have?

I cant afford the black either, which I know is great!

Personally I stuck with a Hero2 BECAUSE I had all the adapters, mounts, battery, etc.

******It's you're call, but I wouldn't get the Silver over the Hero2.*****

Please disregard the above and see my later post.

the regular mounts fit the hero 3 though right, i believe just the battery is different and obviously the mem card.

+1

I would stick with the Hero2 so that you can use all of your previous accessories.

Correct all versions of the GoPro use the same mounts.

The black is only worth getting if you have a good enough computer/laptop to process/play the video at high resolutions.

I have a 2 and it's awesome.
You can probably make a trade with your giftcard if someone is looking to get rid of their GoPro2 with tonnes of accessories.
FYI, the the LCD Touchdisplay TOUCH function does not work with the GoPro2 so just get the LCD Display.

I put a lot of opinions with my Silver edition here: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...-comes-in-three-flavors&p=1951120#post1951120

But basically, 3 is better (not the white, which is garbage), but nothing to brag about unless you have the Black version, but it's still more compact and easier to use than prev Go Pro versions.

I would say, go with the 3 and sell off the accessories that aren't compatible. You won't need an LCD backing if you have a smart phone, then you can just connect through the wifi to access the camera.

Best thing I like is the size, I had it on a hockey helmet and I forgot about the thing. The previous versions were noticeable.

For some reason I figured they changed it to make them smaller.

But the other big reason I didn't get the 3 is the housing. I have a skeleton case and an extra regular one.

I'd go with the 3 and sell off the few pieces that aren't compatible. And if I remember right, the LCD bacpac is compatible with the 3 though the backdoor probably won't fit.
In the event you decide to sell it later the 3 will be easier to sell than the 2. If you don't care about reselling or the wifi feature then you're just as well off sticking with the Hero 2. Can't go wrong either way.

I almost forgot to mention. I feel like an a**, but when I remembered this I changed my opinion. What I'm talking about is Wifi. I bought the Hero2 with the Wifi BacPac and the camera needed an update. There are TONS of things on the net about the camera bricking itself when doing the update. Mine got a hiccup during it and I had nothing but problems after the update. The camera would record only 1-9 minute increments, and sometimes it would need me to remove the battery to reset it. I spent a few hours and finally figured out how to downgrade the software to before the update. The general consensus on the net is that Gopro isn't going to spend the time to fix the problems with the Hero2 update issues.

So..... with all that said.... knowing what I know now. I would buy the Hero3 if I was you. Sorry about my previous opinion.
