Goodbye TSC

I saw that. Peavey really screwed the pooch. Bought TSC, bought Ace Hardware branding and I think one more. Tbh, I tried to go once after they bought TSC and they had closed the store in Bradford. I've never stepped foot in a Peavey and if I was a random driving by, I would never know what it was or why I should stop there. Doesn't really affect me but we are quickly running out of places that cater to small farms.

Would TSC still be around if Peavey hadn't bought them? For how long?

My impression of both was that they were a weird middle ground between Canadian Tire and Princess Auto, with a smattering of farm stuff. The standout feature was having a huge selection of multi-purpose rubber drive belts. Also they had trucker-sized jars of cheese balls.

I haven't asked any of them yet, but I don't think any of the farmers near me will be put out in the least.

The original TSC , Tractor supply was very relevant in a middle ground between CTC and Bass pro shop , Princess Auto . You could buy a Miller welder , decent bearings and a pellet gun . But between Amazon and Temu , they have lost a home.

The TSC in mount forest serviced a lot of farmers and seemed to be busy anytime i was in it. the would have a few unique items.

The co-op at the head of town seems to do a good business

I went to the Orillia one Saturday after someone posted on FB about them closing. Needed to use up my gift card and get my free bag of cat food with their loyalty program. I have about 6 months now to either switch food brands or find who sell else sells it.

I'm sure the manufacturer/distributer will be more concerned than ypu about losing an outlet. Often, if you message them, they will provide a list of locations in your area.

I’m gonna miss them. Probably could have given them more business but didn’t make the effort for one reason or another.

Which reminds me, I’m gonna stop by Lee Valley soon. They serve a different purpose than TSC/Peavy but, feel they are similar in terms of offering different items than you can’t find a CTC or other places. Don’t want to lose them too!

I always went to the Bradford TSC, found what I needed and more. Was sorry when they closed it down as it filled the gap before Princess Auto arrived on the scene up here. Never been to a Peavey Mart.

Was into the location in St. Catharines today to see if there were any great deals - there wasn't :(
Discount on most stuff was 10%. There was much fewer items marked at 20% off and I only saw 1 item at 30% off. They said they're closing the doors in April sometime so I expect they'll increase the discounts closer to the closure.
I must say, the parking lot there was the busiest I've ever seen it!

It was just a week or so ago they announced they were closing select stores, not all of them. Guess the books didn't look sustainable with that situation after the fact.

We used to go there reasonably often back when we were deep in the horse world, but with that mostly behind us now, I just never really ended up going there much.

Farmers have lots of other options in most places TSC's were located - small town hardware stores are still around, and Co-Op stores are usually well equipped. There's a Co-Op only 10-15 minutes north of the TSC store in my neck of the woods for example.
