The contract was likely a back and forth negotiation that was probably reviewed by lawyers representing both sides. His contract isn't anything unusual.

Contracts end. They always do. That's their nature. That's what happened to his. Yes, it wasn't renewed, but the contract's purpose was served. No severance package.

All senior executives have contract terms that define length of the employment term, and most of the senior executives have termination clauses built into their contract. Some people refer to it as a golden parachute.

Blair's contract and severance isn't exorbitant or out of this world by any stretch.
