Good save by a Newbie at US129

Her evil plan is to make you think she can't ride and have you target fixate on her ass and drive off the road behind her, collect on the insurance, take your house/car/dog, and move to Deals Gap where she can ride the twisties daily. Yeah...that's it...

The bike was lowered and don't have enough clearance, the bottom scraped mid turn.

While that may have been an issue, the bigger problem was an incorrect (I'm being kind; "completely wrong" would be more accurate) entrance to the corner.

She turned in way too early. Should have stayed out close to the center line much longer (while slowing down in the process) and turned in much later.

The bike needs work: get the suspension functioning correctly with proper steering geometry and suspension travel. Lowering by any substantial amount is bad news. If it has been lowered a lot at the rear but not at the front, it will steer like a tank. If it has been lowered a lot at the front, there is going to be insufficient travel available in compression before something bad happens: either the front fender hits the bottom of the upper fairing or the radiator (bad), or IF the travel has been reduced in the fork, it will simply ride around on the bump stops a lot of the time (any meaningful cornering or braking ... at the very moment when you need suspension compliance, it won't have it).

The rider needs work: Any one of Total Control, Racer 5, or FAST should sort out the cornering-line issues.

Hay guyz my WIFE went into an oncoming lane lolz coulda killed sum1 im so proud!
Fixed, you can't collect insurance from GF or can you?

Exactly my point, and I am humble to say that i may be someone who will panic in that situation.

Yes she really messed up that corner, and learned from it without a scratch.
I really need to put the suspension back up, but for now she is comfortable with it, and i won't buy another bike or look for other and stop her for coming out to ride. I've been working on my "Evil" plan to have her ride with me for so long.

Next plan is more training and the Total Control, I myself need one.The key is she should wan't it.

Tail of the Dragon is just another road with lots of twist and turn, you could finish it blazing at 11 minutes or less or 30-40 minutes at your own pace. Either way you enjoy the road and feel good about it. The boost of confidence she got for riding it is worth it.

I agree, though she did get a bit lucky as well. Lowered bikes always have that kind of problem, specially on twisties... bike should be brought back up to proper height.

Stop being an ***... **** happens to everybody. Or I should I assume you're the best rider in the whole world and you makes no mistakes?

Hold on, **** happened in that clip??? I thought it was a good save!!!

It WAS a save. The next thing to work on, is to prevent the situation from happening in the first place, so that there doesn't have to be a save!

Hey man, friendly word of advise to you. I was one of the riders from Toronto you ran into (black R1). I saw her as she exited the gas station and getting almost creamed by a pick up truck. I don't want to blame her but I think she needs natural progression that comes with experience before being put into some kind of pressured situation. We all been there, heck I promised my wife not to do anything excessively and somewhere along the ride got carried away and did things I shouldn't of have. Confidence is good, false confidence will get you or someone else in a very bad situation.

I didn't want to comment and thought a lot about it, but I'd be very very angry with myself if I didn't say anything and if something happened to her.
cheers,
x
