Good idea to buy a showroom motorcycle?

My bike was a demo model. 240km on it, saved over 1000$ and still got all the benefits of buying "out of the crate". Full factory warranty, PDI (that the dealer paid for). Sure its been ridden before but I really could care less. I'm not one of those "drive it as carefully as possible during break in" kinda guys. I don't know if they changed any fluids before delivering it to me, but as a new rider I plan on redoing that myself anyway, just to learn about my new machine!

You dodged a bullet, so far. Only two things worse than buying off showroom floor, buying Hyosung or MV off showroom floor or the absolute worst, buying Hyosung and MV off showroom floor.
yeah...a Hyosung ? crate or not...Hyosung please don't mention...now an MV off the floor, no cause EVERYONE wants to sit on one...
BUT if it's a reputable dealer, they won't risk selling something that's scratched or has a torn seat, and as all new vehicles they have to have
a pre-delivery inspection done anyway. whatever brand you choose.
you had to mention hyosung...i feel sick....

Bought my 04 zx10 in 05 off the showroom floor. Now it has 30k km with no issues.

Don't be worried about things that aren't an issue.

Did the other dealer specify that you'll get a crated bike? Could be that they'd acquire it from another dealer/showroom. Would be funny if you drove 6hrs+ and paid $300 more for the exact same bike...

I can just imagine:

Dealer 2: *over the phone* Hey guys do you have XXX bike in stock?

Dealer 1: Yes, it's our showroom one.

Dealer 2: Perfect! Can you ship it to us? We got a client asking for a brand new one out of the crate (chuckles)

Dealer 1: Ok, it'll be $100 for shipping.

Dealer 2: Great, thanks! (More chuckles)

OP, get the showroom one.

I bought my bike in the show room last November. It was a 2014, I saved abut $250+ tax. As for the battery and coolant they don`t put that in until the bike is sold,so I think you would be smarter to buy the cheaper show room bike.

Get the crate bike, just too many horror stories with the floor models.
A good buddy of mine bought a floor model last year because it was a bit cheaper, brings it home and a week later BAM!!! His next door neighbour gets diagnosed with cancer...........dont risk it dude

OP if you buy the one that is 300 km away do you plan to go to that dealership for service? You know if you pass on the one your close dealership has if it needs warranty work etc guess whose bike goes to the bottom of the pile? As someone said it is all about the relationship. With a car not as much of an issue dealerships have many mechanics on staff a bike dealership "might" have 2 or a bigger operation 3.
