Good idea to buy a showroom motorcycle?

So two dealerships have the bike I wanted to buy.
The one closer to where I live has the bike in stock, and has been in the show room for a few months. So I guess many people has sat on it. And the battery and all the fluids have been sat in the bike since it is put in the show room (not sure about this one), so it is not "fresh out of the crate"?

The another dealership is located further, it takes about 3 hours to get there and back. They don't have the bike in stock, and they need to order it, and will take around 2 weeks. And the price they offer is slightly higher (about $300 more).
Which one would be the better choice?
Any advices would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Unless there's something cosmetically wrong with the showroom one (did the people sitting on it scratch the paint, damage the seat?), I'd see no reason to not go with it, especially if it's cheaper. Fluids and such? No big deal, it's been in a heated showroom, not going in and out of a heated shop that would have the potential to create moisture problems. It's actually potentially a positive IMHO.

Pay the extra $300 and get them to include delivery. Still a month or two before all the salt and dirt is off the roads.

If you want to buy a new bike then you'll have to buy it at a dealer...the one closer to you has it in the showroom...the one farther away doesn't have it...and it will cost $300 more there...How is this even a serious question? The better choice is the cheaper one.

The one in the show room most likely doesn't even have a battery in it. Pull the trigger and get it. Then you can post pictures and sit on it and make engine noises till the next warm day.

Did the other dealer specify that you'll get a crated bike? Could be that they'd acquire it from another dealer/showroom. Would be funny if you drove 6hrs+ and paid $300 more for the exact same bike...

Bought mine off the showroom floor, no problems.

You dodged a bullet, so far. Only two things worse than buying off showroom floor, buying Hyosung or MV off showroom floor or the absolute worst, buying Hyosung and MV off showroom floor.

Well now inreb has me nervous, mine was off the showroom floor. This will be my 4th season, has logged 50,000 flawless kms, but now I'm feeling uneasy.

Sorry about that mate but my research indicates fresh out of the crate is the go. Your bike is living on borrowed time.

Lots of good advices here. Bought off the showroom floor without issues, now I found out the ownership experience could have been so much better out of the crate and further away......

It has been known that bikes being uncrated fell on the floor...would you know.

no cosmetic issues = buy it
new bike warranty = buy it
$300 cheaper = don't buy it, someone else will

Get the far away dealer to price match of better yet beat the price by $100

BTW what bike is it?

Ya, do that. And when you need quick service use the close one. Building relationships is all about spreading the love around.

my first 2 bikes were non currents. Sat on the floor for almost a couple of years before I bought em....

My Buell Cyclone sat 4 yrs, a lot of it where the customer couldn't see it. Eventually bought for half of list. Worth half that now.

would putting it back in a crate increase the value because it's in a crate? or it can't be seen again?

I have bought most of my bikes used (either private or from a shop / dealer). The couple of new bikes I did buy were off the showroom.

However, my 1 ST1300 did come out of the crate. After we signed the deal for the crated one ~ he offered me a choice of the floor model or the on in the back with crate ~ he took me into the back area where they had a stack of crates with bikes in them (2 high if I remember right) and he told me which was mine (on the top) and I got on a ladder and took a crow bar and ripped the side of the crate off (metal crate 'cage' surrounding the bike with plywood boards screwed to the metal to provide a cover). Kinda neat to rip the side of my crate off to reveal my bike inside.

Yes, the showroom bike has been host to any number of rearends during its lifetime.
So what?
How many times do you plan to get on and off it while you own it?
IMO all these stories about crated as opposed to floor is rubbish. Sounds like a bunch of urban legends with little in the way of fact to support it.
A friend told me. Sum Guy told me.
It isn't a demonstrator that has been ridden repeatedly by the ham handed. It has just been sitting in a heated room.
It's unlikely it even has any fluids in it at all. The last thing a dealer wants is a pool of coolant or oil underneath it.
In addition, as a showroom bike it has probably been polished and detailed, so it will look great until the first time you get rained on.
