Oh sorry, is there a thread where we hear good stories about guns already? I didn't see it. Plus, with the amount of negativity out there about guns, we can't get enough of the positives

I got a few good gun stories (depending on where in the world you live and your religious beliefs) but honestly i need a few beers before I re count them. Other then that I have a sg P226, which i can proudly say I have never had to use in self defense. Its brought me a lot of joy. Helps with the stress, and bad feelings, and you don't actually have to shoot some one for it to work. That and its impossible to get a conceal to carry permit in Canada. (They do exist just very rare)
I knew a CO who had well documented threats made against him by organized crime groups who still couldn't get a CC permit. You basically have to be WELL connected to get one. Can't just get one on merits.
What range?
Lol.. That one is a definite at least once a week for me and I hope all my gun stories begin/end that way, with the occasional replacement of "to the range" with "hunting" or "to shoot a match"

My dad is a businessman when I was young. Sometimes people would get reckless and threaten him with violence. At one point he was forced to pull out his .32 revolver. It just goes to show that sometimes when people start getting violent and smashing things, just the show of arms can disperse them.

Most practical would be 40S&W or 45ACP and even then, you should shoot at least twice, even when using good defensive loads. Fortunately, most situations where gun gets pulled by the victim are resolved by the aggressor running away and the victim not having to fire a single shot. One tip on that note that I got from a guy who had to deal with some hardened criminals with the "nothing to lose" attitude - Point the gun at his sack.. He'll be more afraid of becoming a eunuch than of dying, so pointing the gun in the "right" direction would help diffuse the situation without resorting to having to pull the trigger
