Good cop story

Every year, about this time, I volunteer with Moto Safety for the Ride to Conquer Cancer. At our post-event dinner, one of the other Moto-Safety crew shared with me this story.

Our crew member was traveling between posts, and along the way came to an intersection being controlled by a paid-duty officer. He decided to ask how things were going at that intersection. The female cop replied that the cyclists were great, but the [local] drivers were being stupid. As the officer said this, she tapped the notebook in her vest.
"What is that?" the crew member asked.
The officer replied, "The license plates I'm going to follow up with tomorrow."

Isn't it nice to know that some paid duties take their job seriously?

A big thank you to all the officers, be they paid, volunteer, or auxiliary, who help ensure the safety of the cyclists at so many dangerous intersections along some 560km of roadway throughout the event. You really help make this all possible! It is always great working along side these outstanding members of our safety services!

edit..meant to put this in a different section. Too many tabs open. Mods please move when you have a chance. Thanks!

I've got a good cop story for ya. Yesterday, my 16 year is coming home with my street legal XR from his girlfriends house. He's got his M1 but he's not insured to ride it on the road yet. To get home he has to push it a couple of km through subdivisions till he gets to an orchard after that it's easy riding the rest of the way home. So he gets about 3 houses from his girlfriends and gets stopped by a cop. The cop asks him where he's headed, he tells him, the cop asks him why he's not riding it through town, he tells him about the insurance problem, the cop says follow me, lights up his cherries and gives him an escort the rest of the way.

Great story.. Reminds me of the Peel cops who were managing the scene of an accident that I witnessed.. They managed the traffic really well, to make sure the ambulance got there and rescued the motorist.. One cager was being a real dumbass and decided to swerve around them instead of stopping... Wasn't a good day to be a dick for him.. They pulled him over, took out their ticketbooks and went medieval on his insurance rate's ***

We did have a GREAT time at RCC this year! I have heard very few problems with the cops, they were great. One I heard, said that he would ticket every bicycle that went through a stop sign on a non busy country road. So one of our guys had to stop every rider at the stop sign. He sat in his cruiser for over an hour watching to make sure everyone stopped. On the whole they were GREAT, lots of the cops stopped traffic and let me blow through the red lights and stop signs even though there were no bicycles around.
