Glasses and Helmets

great when its dry but on days when i get caught in the rain i prefer to keep the visor sealed

Do you have the breath guard installed? My glasses only fog up when I use it. On rainy or cold days, I have my Respro Foggy installed and that prevents the visor and my glasses from fogging up.

I'm also looking for a new helmet that my glasses will fit into. I tried on HJC and my glasses fit into them nicely. With Joe Rocket and Bell my glasses did not sit on my nose at all. I'm looking at the HJC IS-16 which has also an internal sunshield.

took the breath guard off so i can fit a camera on the chin guard. thanks for the tip on the foggy, will give it a shot.

When I tried on a similar HJC helmet, the bottom of the sun visor was in the middle of my field of view when all the way down. Really annoying! Make sure you try it on and sit on a bike similar to yours to make sure you don't have that problem.

Another factor to consider is where the arms join the frame. Some join at the top, some closer to the middle. Either can cause problems depending on the helmet type. For instance, when I chose frames supposedly designed for motorcycles riders, they didn't fit into my helmet. Didn't make much sense until I realized I wasn't an individual who only needed the open road and the music of a v-twin.

i use the oakley jawbone glasses.
had 2 sets of lenses made for them, they fit in my rf1100 nicely.
i do get the fog if stopped but i just flip it up at a stop light.
i like that i can run different lens /visor options.
visor - Clear and mirrored tint
glasses - prescription tinted polarized, "shooters yellow" and im ordering standard clear with anti fog.
there is the option to have vents cut into them, but i didnt have those done.

actually... my visors have the pinlock option, i would love to get a custom made pin lock for them in my script... that would be amazing!

just wear contact lenses........thats what i do...

only use contacts for motorcycling and sports
i chickened out of lasik last year... my vision isnt all that bad, just in rain and when the sun goes down.
but i may try some contacts.

Doesn't work for commuting. My eyes get really tired if I where contacts & stare at a computer all day. I'd rather have my glasses for long rides as well. I use my contacts for sports, including dirt biking and when I've been on a track.

where are you ordering the anti fog lenses from?

I've always been deathly afraid of contacts or anything thats foreign that has direct contact.
Don't be. I've been wearing Dailies for years, without any problems. Ask for some free samples to try out!

I just got the IS-16 last week. Previous helmet was the HJC CL_16.
My glasses (wire frame) fit no problem, and there's no interference with the internal sun visor.
It's also quieter and feels lighter than the CL-16

I have the breath deflector in my RF-1100, but still get fogging when stopped at a light if it is cold out (under 10C) or raining. Flipping the visor up (or holding my breath) fixes this, although it is still annoying at times.

they have a anti fog coating on them, but still get fog when stopped at lights.

i got them atAbbe Opticians 1077 North Service Road (Applewood Village Plaza) Mississauga, Ontario L4Y 1A6
they were cheaper than everywhere else i went, i think it was 150-175/set of lenses, tax is in because they are RX, as well as the frames have no tax because they are also classified as RX when you buy lenses for them.

im going to get a spare set of frames when i get my next lenses made for them.

A solution for your frames is to choose a frame from a brand that carries straight contoured arms instead of those that are fitted with a bend behind your ears.

For example: Felix by Fossil

They are rubberized on the inner arms and will fit well in a helmet as they are slim profiled arms also.

In regards to your lenses fogging up you have the following options:
1. Order Anti-fog coated lenses from Essilor lenses. (The coating needs to be reapplied from time to time, in which you will do yourself)
2. Try aftermarket products such as Fog Buster that you apply on your lenses before your ride.

OR!

Get contacts. Most opticals will teach and fit you with contacts for free.

+1 for RF1100

However, I have a weird issue with glasses. At highway speeds (100km/h+), the bumps or uneven road texture transfers into the helmet and onto the glasses regardless of how loose my grip is on the handlebars. This causes focus issues with the glasses constantly moving around and pisses me off. Contacts don't cause this.

I'm eventually going to get some kind of surgery for my eyes as my eyes are -9/-10 -___-
