Maybe at the point where I needed one of these:

But by then I might have lowered my standards to one of these:

Considering selling my bike next spring so I can finish up the project car, enjoy the car scene for the summer and then buy a new FZ-09 in the fall as its possibly my next bike and I can get a good deal on one.

Ive enjoyed my fz6 long enough, made it my own and it's possibly time to move on to a new bike to put my own style to.

I plan to always ride off road, so I will always have a bike.

Just don't start preaching like its the best thing since sliced bread :D

Sent from my tablet using my paws

I went with option c. Gracefully declined their offer and told them that my riding journeys are very limited and controlled.

Realistically, I have issues accepting anything from them even the minor things (groceries)

In the end of the day, the only reason I would use a car is to transport my kite and board (im a kiteboarder). Its a lot cheaper to rent a car (40 dollars) once a week then what I would pay on insurance per month. My insurance is the same for a shitbox 1,000 dollar car or an aston martin. Not to mention the rental gets sand everyhwere.

Care to elaborate? I'm no more an actuary than the next guy, but this defies how insurance risk is calculated. :dontknow:

I am between 25-30
G2 - (Recently moved to canada) dec 2012
Work and live downtown
1 Speeding ticket
Value of car = 5,000-10,000 Mazda 3
Insurance = 3,500 per year

Value of car = 65,000 Aston Martin 2006 V8
Insurance = 4,000

Well put.

With every passing day this summer, I found it harder and harder to get on my motorcycle and enjoy myself. It was a combination of high insurance, lack of enjoyable roads without travelling 2 hours in either direction, increased police attention to motorcyclists etc.
I prefer my car as a commuter so I can sip coffee and waft away without having to pay (as) much attention.

The cost of insurance and maintenance for the 4-5 nice summer rides just doesn't justify the enjoyment to me anymore. In perspective, I put about $2,500 towards insurance and maintainence this year and rode for about 5,000 km. $0.50/per km.

I got offered a great price on my SS and decided to let it go. I'm contemplating what to do next year, but the thought of looking over my shoulder for police at every turn isn't making riding on the street very appealing. Playing around with the idea of dirt bike / track only

I prefer to ride than stand around and chat (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Anyone else feel the same way?

Rather than being forced to track day schedules / fees / tires / camping etc to get your load off, get a van and and toss the SS in and head for those roads that count. You're more likely to get nailed by the popo to and fro your destination on an SS, so eliminate it. You can still have fun on an SS in Ontario. You just have to outthink the law.

I used to ride mopeds, it was how I started. When the day comes that I can't handle a full-size bike anymore, well, I'll just go back to mopeds!

If I could do this:

I'd give up my bike.

Get a sport touring bike?
Touring is quite fun :)

Well put.

Touche

I would always try to find an alternative to get on 2 wheels, unless I'm fully amputated... Just because technology isnt advanced enough for robotic limbs yet!

Only things that can keep me off a bike would be; no access to a bike, physical disability, death.

Men give up bikes for fatherhood, and pick them up again years later. It's responsible. It's ok.

I've known lots of fathers who never gave up the ride. Somehow they were still fathers and performed the job well despite having a bike. Giving up the bike is something the controlling wife has in her head that was planted by her mother. And those guys that agree just need to be told what to do so everybody wins.

That's an awesome video....was hoping he'd try and kill a chipmunk or something though!

..except for the ones who got killed or crippled, leaving the kids without a parent or in poverty. Kids means sacrifices and responsibility. Many fathers don't understand this, which is why about half of them get divorced.

The solution is to get a track bike. You get to actually to ride at the speeds the bikes were designed for, no cops, and its much safer than public roads. Plus, racers are nice people.

Vintage racing is fun.

SS bikes make no sense for roads. If you actually use them, when there isn't crushing traffic (GTA SUCKS) , you will just get nicked and end up in big trouble. A friend of mine got nicked at 160, and his life was ruined.

Dude you come up with some one sided ********. Fathers that drive other vehicles don't get killed or crippled? What about military men? They should quit too once they have kids, or they must just be really selfish and irresponsible. You pin the divorce on the man, as if women aren't ******* and the cause of countless heartaches and separations.

Seriously?? It must have been pretty ****** to begin with. I'm 23 and got nicked at 155, it cleaned out all the savings I had for my SS. Did it ruin my life? **** no. It just delayed things a bit...
