What would it take for you to "give up" riding?

Would you give up your bike in exchange for a Ferrari 430, 458? I have a specific reason for asking this.

Yes i would... then sell it and buy me 10 brand new bikes!

I was thinking the same lol but it's more like 20 bikes if it's a high end Ferrari or Lamborghini.

But honestly...driving a status car is just that, a status car. I've seen high end cars circling karaoke clubs and etc., the driver comes off as a huge ****** bag no matter how many looks he gets.

....with that said, on a serious note, full amputation of a limb would cause me to stop riding only because I physically can't!

Ask the actual question you need answered. I would not give up my bike for anything to be honest. Unless I needed to sell it to keep my house or something along those lines.

We just bought a house 3 years back and had a baby boy 8 month ago. Bike is still in the garage :)

Yeah? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbrIoPY4nO8

If you can afford an exotic car, I'm sure you can afford a bike, there will be no real reason to give up anything other than the fact that you're a pussy.

If I had that much money I'd rather build my own race track. There's one in Gran Turismo 5 called Cape Ring that doesn't exist irl that I'd love to build lol

And that's amazing, I'm honestly surprised at how well he's able to ride.

It's not a matter of affordability... I got a feeling this guy might have rich parents to get him to stop riding. Perhaps an offer of a Ferrari is on the table.

Personally I would take it. Too bad I don't have rich parents...some guy I know years ago gave up his CBR F4i for a M3. Parent paid for everything, including insurance. Bike everything was on his own. It also enhance his chick scoring capability by a large margin.

You mean assuming he does not tell them that his mommy and daddy bought him a fancy car to keep him from playing with motorcycles? :)

What is your specific reason for asking this? Are you getting a Ferrari 430 or 458 if you give up the bike? If you get it can I take it for a test drive!? The most I was offered to give up riding is to think of my yet non existent children :(

She's asking you to give up the bike? Didn't you just get it?

I get the impression that the question isn't about giving up a particular bike, but riding. I don't know what it would take. Certainly not someone asking me to, or offering me a bribe (or worse, blackmail).
I've been riding consistently for 30 years. Got married, bought and sold a couple of homes, raised a couple of kids. A swap of my bike for another asset where I come out ahead is certainly an option - but I would still end up with a bike.

If you have a specific reason for asking this why can't you make your own decision?

Start giving up stuff for a girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse then you might as well give up your freedom to make any serious decisions for the rest of your life It is a slippery slope when it starts. If you give up riding or your bike do it because you have reached your limit or need to make a serious sacrifice to get something else.

You are an adult so no one should ever tell you to give up something that you truly love and makes you happy.

Not really, I could buy a fairly fancy car, but I have no desire.

I would give up my bike for a trip to the moon (and back... that's the more important bit). Then I would save up and buy another bike.

I doubt there is anything that would make me give up riding for good though.

No car has the same feel as a motorcycle, so I would not give up riding for any car. I would trade of course for any expensive car, sell and get the same bike I have again, as well as another couple of bikes and cars.

The only way I would give up riding is if I just did not enjoy it anymore.
