Hi,

I just bought a used e460 givi case. I got a great deal considering the cost of this case brand new...but the catch is he couldn't find the key for the lock.

Was looking for help from anyone whose had to replace the lock/key. Givi shows it as a spare part for $20, so cost is negligable, but I was wondering if anyone has bought locally and had experience swapping it on the case since I don't see how to remove the lock that is currently there. I read on other forums that a locksmith may be able to cut a key by lookign at the lock and code on it? Is this true and has anyone done so?

Thanks

Varrus.

You have to be able to open the case to change the lock. Otherwise a theif could just remove the lock. If the case is locked closed without a key you need a locksmith.

You don't need a locksmith. Drill out the old tumbler by just drilling a 3/16 hole down the middle of the keyway, the tumblers all fall into the opening when you remove the drill bit, and just pull the old tumbler out. If you're ever in the Guelph area, I've got a bag full of Givi locks/tumblers to fit the three most popular lock systems.

Thanks, if I am going to be in Guelph I'll PM you! I popped by GP Bikes today and they said they can order one for only $17, but he is going to confirm on Monday hoe long it will take..

Sorry I wasn't clear in my original post - the case is not locked, I had no problem removing the existing lock from the inside...

I have several tumblers from when I changed my Givi locks to matching keys ( I have 5 cases.) If you are or can get to anywhere around Newmarket to Woodbridge I can bring a tumbler for you (no charge.)
