01Cbr is right, all you get with a mx bike is a bill of sale. The reason most people have ownerships is because they had to get a green plate to be able to ride trails.

That's fine. What I'm trying to say is the government does not see it that way. A bike is a bike. Does an MX bike have a VIN? If yes, then it should have an ownership. It is not hard to get one and I will just about guarantee that if you ask the dealership for one when you buy it, they will get you one.
Simply put, I don't want someone else to buy a stolen bike like I did. It was a kids bike, so I didn't think it needed an ownership either, until I tried to get a plate for it.
Of course you don't "need" one for a track only bike, but just a street track only bike, it just makes ownership issues easier.
If that's not clear enough to get across what I'm trying to convey, I apologize.
The only reason you can even get an ownership for an mx bike is because it happens to meet Ontario green plate standards.
You dont need an ownership to check if I bike has been stolen.

You can get an ownership for an MX bike because it has a VIN.
See post 16. I already know that. Thanks.
Why are you fighhting this so hard? I'm just trying to help people make a safe purchase, the easiest way to do that is to have an ownership, that's all.
Because your telling people you cant legally buy an mx bike without and ownership, which is wrong.
Start your own thread or pm each other, this has nothing to do with OPs original question.Actually no I'm not. If I have an bike in my name and I sell it to you with a bill of sale, then as far as the government is concerned I still own the bike if you never transferred ownership. It's a technicality. You don't LEGALLY own it unless its in your name.
The issue arises from people like you that never do any of this and then ten years down the road someone buys it and for whatever reason they need an ownership. All of a sudden they need to jump through hoops because someone before them was to lazy to do it right.
Keep trying. I know I said I give up, but I have time.

Just want to throw it in there, that both of my recent MX bikes have come from a dealership. my 04 was used, my 2010 was brand new and both came with an ownership, wasn't even a question.
Right so start your own thread of your way and opinions on how to purchase a bike the Right way,and have people comment on that.Plus a simple search would show you plenty of threads about pros and cons about purchasing a bike with or without ownership and what to do.I beg to differ. I think this is a very important issue for someone getting into dirt biking. They should be aware of what they need to have in order to legally own the bike they buy.

This thread was about someone getting into dirt biking.
Why do you seem so butt hurt over this issue?

Because its the same ****** over and over blah blah blah.................................................................I enjoyed the discussion and feel it has value. I don't understand mod wannabe behaviour either. Go get 'em.
I’m looking into getting a dirt bike but I have a bunch of questions I’m hoping you guys can help answer, so here goes! I am looking to do trail riding, over and through obstacles. Doing jumps and all would be cool but I’m probably not going to be going to those circuits
I never had an interest in "discussing" this with you. Just put it out there for the OP that most mx bikes out there wont come with an ownership but you can still by one of them and get one for it. With the specified budget, older mx bikes would be one of the few options.
BTW all my vehicles are registered in my name.

You're telling me, it's like talking to the wall dealing with this guy.
I have an ownership for all my bikes. Bill of sale, trip to the ministry, you do the math.
Im done responding to you.
My need to learn to read and understand posts.
