Getting a bike safetied from home?

I think the problem is if you buy a car and put it in your name as unfit 2 months down the road you can get a temp permit to drive it to the garage to get safetied and etested where with a bike if you register it as unfit you are screawed because you cant get a temp sticker then you have no way of getting it to a garage unless you trailer it and not everyone has someone with a truck and trailer and its a pain in the *** to go rent **** sometimes for 10 mins, if the mto would allow people on motorcycle to get a temp permit even if its only for 12 hours it would make everything alot easier

Once a car is registered "unfit" you cannot get a temporary plate/sticker until you get a safety certificate.
It doesn't matter if it's after 1 day or 2 months.

I don't think so. If its registered as unfit you can not get a temp sticker for it.

Revrandy - please stay where you are and never come back to Toronto. There are enough annoying, nosy people here already.

We're going to hell for this but I agree.

No, you haven't.
It doesn't matter what kind of vehicle, if it's unfit you can't get a temporary permit.

I've 2 safeties @ Canadian Tire out in the parking lot with zero tools.

Here's the thing tho...

I will only ever get a 'questionable' safety for a bike I am buying.

Seriously. Why do people have such a hard time keeping their mouth shut sometimes??

"questionable safety"? What is that? Never heard of it.

What do you think it is??

The point being that I believe quality safety checks can be done in driveways. I was backing Ted R. I used my CTC experience as an example. Do you really want to talk about your questionable safeties online? Did you know MTO has floors of employees tracking your every post for underground subculture counterculture mathematical terrorism with close ties to Algebra doin's?

Dafuq??

The shop would be responsible for any safety repairs once that certificate is signed. True story.

If that was the case Ted would have honoured the safety he performed on a bike I purchased where a number of things were inoperable. Took it to him and he said tough *****, it's not like I actually check things on the bike. He deserves to lose his license.

The large church I pastor would disagree with you.
I won't get into my reasoning because that will open a can of worms, but ok "rev" whatever you say. :)

It's a big grey area regarding safeties and warranties but there are a lot of factors involved.
If he's just doing you a favour so you can plate the bike on the cheap, then you can't expect much and quite frankly, you should be tankful.

If he turned around and told you the bike needs A,B and C to be done, charged you for the work and you later discover that there was more to it than that, then you have every right to be upset and you can take it further if you choose to.

Do all CT's do safeties on bikes?

Unless, of course, you're the person BUYING a bike that received that 'favour' inspection, in which case you've been screwed.

That is why it's anything BUT a grey area.
