Get a modular helmet, you'll thank me later

A friggin' bee flew into my helmet today. Luckily, it's modular so I just flipped open the front of it and that got rid of it. I don't think lifting up the visor would've been enough.

Don't fall off.
Happy with my Evoline 3 which is certified both open face and closed modular.
Might as well be in a cage stuck in a FF.
Road riding is not the track. :coffee:

Had this happen once years ago, and stopped immediately (was on a side road). Construction crew was watching me flail my head around and rushing to pull off a helmet. Wasn't stung though.

I've been using a modular for years and will never go back to a FF. While it may not be as protective as FF, it offers more protection than an open face helmet and is just as easy to get on and off. Getting my ears and Rx glasses into a FF helmet was never an easy task.

I once had a wasp fly up the sleeve of my leather jacket. Little btard stung me 7 or 8 times before I was able to pull over. When I unzipped the jacket it fell out and flew away before I could kill it.

2.7 lb versus 3.2 lb. ..5oz - immaterial and a current Bell Star runs 3lb 10 oz ..
I've crossed the border many times without ever removing my helmet. Same in stores and gas stations.
Being able to talk to people, ask directions, drink water, have a snack, take photos.....all made easier by a convertible.....and they've been getting better and lighter.

Tried on an LS2 modular once and couldn't believe the weight on my head. Imagining that weight at high speed . Maybe they've made them lighter since.

I think there's a stigma of old guys with mustaches wearing them. Cops wear them. They do look kind of Gazoo-ish...not an insult, just an observation.

After seeinng how easy it was for my wife to sustain a life altering brain injury, i will take any and all precautions to avoid the same. One of those precautions is wearing a good ff helmet.
Long term care facilities are filled with brain injured people as well as the elderly.
