Generators

yea but have you seen his trailer? Gypsy all the way

Haha ya it does look like a gypsy trailer!! And it's in my driveway, where I sleep if I don't take out the trash.

I should have a real trailer next year, full revamp! Any one need Gsxr parts? Lol

Gotta say. from day one my EU2000 has been a P.O.S. It took forever to start when it was brand new, has died for unknown reasons many times(English and I swore someone was playing a sick joke on us at bogie), and just recently started popping the breaker while powering just one set of Bickle's. In fact it crapped out on the Saturday that I binned up the Criprilia(not that anything was to blame for that fiasco besides rider error). Not saying the Honda isn't any good, just that mine is no good! None the less, this season I have seen several crashes due to old/bad warmers, and gennies being shut off, broken, popped breaker, out of gas, or...? Also, the cord is the least expensive part of the combo, but is often overlooked, and If I remember grade 10 electrical, the shorter the cord, the more power gets through. I saw one guy last year with a brand new EU and a set of Chicken Hawks, but he was using a 100 ft cord that was barely one step up from from "knob and tube". It doesn't need to be contractor grade, but a relatively new outdoor extension cord. Anyways, my summer Mosport crash has reminded me just how long and hard recovery is. I guess what I'm saying is that whatever you're using for warmers, generators, or extension cords, whether they are cheapies from P/A or C/T, or a brand name from Honda or Yamaha, make damn sure the setup is working!! . I only read half the thread so if I'm beating a dead horse, Sorry. Just a rant from a cripple with a busted femur, stuck riding the short bus to work.

BTW anybody know how to make paragraphs on this forum. It just seems to ignore the fact I hit enter/return??

ZX is a true Gypsy, Jayv and I proved it. Its because in the olde country they had no garbage pickup, so he's used to living in his own filth! :D BTW did u sell the Gypsymobile yet?

It's been working fine for me...maybe your warmers?

I was given a tip, for maximum power plug your warmers straight into the generator, two plugs, two warmers. Electricity takes the path of least resistance so if your using an extension cord with both warmers plugged in and one warmer has less resistance guess which one is getting the power. Not sure if this is gospel and maybe John B would have better info but my tires were damn hot when I used this method.

Warmers were brand new. the ones the redhead accidently took off my store shelf:rolleyes:. The EU still conveniently crapped out on the national Saturday. We discovered luke warm tires 25 min from morning practice. Thankfully I had my 6500 on the trailer to take over and get the lion's share of the heat in. Kudos to the Bickle's for getting the rubber as hot as it did in such a short period.

No way, you all have the worse pit ever, at tmp it was just you and I and the pit was clean... After I kept cleaning after your ass

It's jay and his dirty chips

Are you running the EU direct ,, gennerator extension cord to warmers? I have seen many an extension cord be a problem. Also the ones with the multiple outlet ends have outlets that were useless and good ones. So depending where you plugged in it would work fine or not at all.

I got a used generator, for winter storage do you guys drain the gas or use stabilizer? Also do you do yearly oil change and spark plug change or is it time based for the change? I don't have a manual and it's my first genny so not sure on timelines for maintenance. Thanks.

It's a yamaha inverter.

I put in stabilizer and run it every month (do this with everything). I'll change the oil and check the spark plug in the spring.

I drain the gas tank, then drain the carb and then start it and burn off the remaining. I change the oil and leave the plug. I don't use the thing often enough to change the plug every year. I'll do it every 2 or 3 years.

For all small engines, I add stabilizer and run for a few minutes to get it into the carb, then shut the fuel off and run the carb dry. As the engine starts to stutter, spray fogging oil into air intake. In the spring, just turn on the fuel and it should start first pull.

the Yamaha 2400 inverter I bought 4 weeks ago is being put to the test right now.....big ice storm here in Toronto and the power has been out for 22 hrs....I have been running the furnace , fridge , tv, some lights since 8 am this morning...this gen has not missed a beat and im only on the second tank of gas........

I wrapped Xmas gifts on Friday evening listening to the doom-forecasting Weathernetwork. Saturday morning I bought a Honda EU2000. We got off lucky though here in Niagara, one minor power blip at my place, but no major outage.

I like being better prepared for the future though!

someone give me a broken loud cheapo generator. i want to strap one to a car engine to experiment with a quiet track option.
