Gene Hackman - RIP

They didnt detect carbon monoxide when they tested , but that was nine days later. The autopsy will be the answer .
Already done. CO was ruled out.

"Preliminary autopsy results didn’t determine how Oscar-winner Gene Hackman and his wife died at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but did rule out that they were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning, the sheriff leading the investigation said Friday."

"Carbon monoxide can be ruled out since it can dissipate from the environment but not from a body, renowned medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden said."

If it’s the kids , that apparently got together and went for breakfast after hearing the news , offing a ninety yr old actor and the piano player is one thing but killing the dog is cold .

Dog was unable to access water. Probably for nine days. Likely unintentional collateral damage to whatever happened.

Some really unusual circumstances. I bet it's something weird like he had a heart attack, then she OD on pills, after putting the dog in the closet.

I'm theorizing there was some sort of gas. It affected the dog first, causing its behavior to be 'odd' enough for them to crate it before being overcome themselves.

My rather vague impression was she died first then he was heading outside and fell. Maybe severe dementia.

His daughter said he was remarkably spry for his age and retained his sharp wit. She credited her step mother (30 yrs. his junior) for being on top of his well being.

A report from an accident re enactment specialist mentioned he probably had a heart issue , she scrambled to get him some meds and possibly fell while hurrying, now both are down and the dog just ran out of water .

The dog dying goes with just about any scenario. In just about any crisis stopping a dog from getting involved means putting it in its crate or a closed room. Then the others do what has to be done without interference.

Anything else is still speculation.

Didn't see that one coming. Gene's CoD was heart disease as expected. His wife died of Hanta virus a week before he died.

Make sure to check on your elderly family and friends regularly. (I guess that's pretty much what GTAM is these days).

Wow !!!!! Hantavirus. In the deer mouse population there. That must have been terrible for Gene - that week without his wife and desperately confused with Alzheimers.
Heart attack a better way to go than lingering in care without your loved one.
