Gearheads

Just buy what you like and what fits. Design is completely up to you, just go to a few bike shops... it'll be much easier than asking here. EVERYONE has different taste in gear, some people prefer Astars to Joe Rocket, or Joe Rocket to Icon... you gotta go shopping in person to find what you want.

Carbon 600 is correct, you should really try different things on and see what fits you best, everything will offer good protection, but if you can afford to spend a little more, buy the more expansive gear, it's just better overall quality. Such as Dainese, higher end Alpine Stars, Arai, Shoei and many more which you'll recognize by a higher price tag :)

Make sure if buying boots that they are stiff around ankles (and can't be easily bent) and offer solid protection, and gloves that offer good and sturdy wrist protection.

Here is my gear:

Alpinestars Stunt leather jacket
Dainese Torque boots
Arai Quantum 2 helmet
Joe Rocket leather gloves
Ripstop heavy duty jeans

I'm a new rider shopping for gear, trying to get some ideas from more experienced riders.

Guess you didn't attend the Jan. bike show then. There was a good selection for ideas of what's out there.

I went to the show, saw some things I liked but didn't buy anything there.

Do most people here wear leather jackets, full boots and kevlar jeans? I want to be protected but not sweating in the gear if possible.

You can always get a mesh jacket if you want minimum protection but comfort during summer, or a well ventilated textile riding jacket. As far as jeans go just basic jeans, better than nothing (shorts). If you go down without boots, say bye bye to your ankles, better to sweat a bit but be protected than ride in running shoes and then forever limp if you go down.

I don't go out without gloves. IMO they are the second most important piece of safety equipment after a bucket. I generally wear my leather jacket with ce armour built in and kevlar jeans and good boots. But if I'm just running a quick errand or something it's helmet, regular jeans and gloves, with a tee shirt and shoes. (But that's rare)

I'm not an experienced rider, but I wear:

full-face helmet (HJC)
Armoured textile jacket (Speed and Strength)
Full gauntlet Gloves (don't know the brand)
Jeans
Icon boots

I have 1 season under my belt, does that make me an expert? lol
Anyways, here's a list of my gear...

Everyday gear:
Shoei
Dainese Jacket, boots and gloves.

doesn't really matter what gear you wear as long as you are wearing something

Not enough informatio. Need to know what kind on riding you do. Big difference between what you need IMO.

Gloves and full ankle boots. I have a pair of thor hybrids. I like them.

But the only this that is realy important is that you stay fabulouse!
