Gasp! Steve Job's resigns.

I don't think is that big of a deal for Apple for the short term. Tim Cook has already been groomed by Jobs for this, and he's already played CEO a couple times before. It could put a small dent in the company's stock I suppose.

It's not good for Jobs himself, though, as this is a sign that his health has not improved.

agreed, Will see a short term drop in stock prices but longer term. nothing to really worry about. They are still very healthy by all standards.

Watch Apple stocks plummet 15 to 20% tomorrow in response to Jobs' departure. I doubt it will be the end of Apple though. Apple will just become a bit more like Microsoft, more conservative in approach and new products.

Jobs was a visionary but he had a few clunkers along the way. I recall nearly buying a NeXT Machine Cube when Jobs was flogging that idea back in the late 80s.

In any case, Jobs is set for life with his Apple stock holdings. He may as well sit back and take a break from it all, concentrate on his health and quality of life, maybe even think a bit about the next great product idea if he gets bored.

And for those of you with some spare cash, watch Apple stock prices tomorrow. You might be able to pick up a bargain during the sell-off.

an apple a day, keep the doctor away!!!!!

2012...the end is upon is...this is the final sign.

LMAO. You RIMjobs kill me. Read the press release again. Slowly, and out loud to yourself if that helps. He's still Chairman of the Board of Directors, and an Apple employee. Tim Cook is simply taking over the CEO duties (as he's been doing off and on for 3 years) full time.

Jim BALLS-Silly for Prime Minister!!! :-)

Sell sell sell

It would take RIM-level stupidity for a CEO to run Apple into the ground. Its the world's most valuable company.

Tim Cook knows what he's doing, and as long as Jobs is alive he'll still be in the picture.

From a purely technological and business aspect Apple will be just fine, but from a charisma, swagger standpoint they are going to take a huge blow. Lets not kid ourselves the man is a maestro with a keynote clicker and a stage.

He did a lot for black turtlenecks.

and blue jeans!

The man was quite the fashion plate!

Article :

"Design and marketing, however -- which fell directly under Jobs' purview -- is not Cook's forte."

Let's face it, Apple is 99% marketing and hype, and 1% product.

"I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role," Jobs wrote in his resignation letter.

Sure Steve, sure thing. Cook is just another good CEO. But Steve Jobs character, visionary, and marketing savvy, he is not.
