Gas prices.

Seems like the Feds are still buying Russian oil products, even as the government has banned the import of "Russian crude oil".

At some point we should ban all Russian oil products, but we probably won't, since they go to Quebec.

"The Russian oil ban applies only to crude oil for now, but the government is looking at oil derivative products next, a government source said."

It's all in the marketing. Smoke and mirrors.

For more fun go lookup the last time we allegedly bought Russian crude.

Anyone else find humour in watching people that spent $70,000 on a pick up that gets 15mpg complain about the price of gas?
But they "needed" a truck. /s Honestly, gas price hurts but in normal times, the depreciation on that truck will be higher than fuel cost per km. It's just not as obvious as it's not a weekly kick in the nuts, depreciation only hits the books every few years.

Depreciation can also be basically zero if you use the truck / car for work and often. Sure it goes down, but if it's helping you get around and make $ then I don't worry about it.

As for trucks and gas prices...lol. Ya they complain, and then the contractors just add more $ to their invoices and are made whole again (but that only works for those that can).

I ***** about gas prices regardless of if I’m filling up the truck, car or bike. As for the truck, I legitimately need it for work and for towing my RV. However, if I don’t need to be driving the truck it tends to stay parked. I don’t see the point in driving something that gets 13-14 L/100km (19-20 L/100km when towing) when I could be driving something a little more fun and uses half the gas.

I will curse the boringness of my Volt until the day I die...but I'm currently at 1,060km on half a tank of gas so far...so I'll complain quietly and enjoy my electric commute.

I just ordered a Kia Niro PHEV which I’m sure will be boring as **** to drive, but it means that my commute to/from work will be done purely on electric. It will also replace one of our work vans so our fuel cost will drop from 12-13 L/100km down to 4-5 L/100km (when running as a hybrid).

Nice...I looked at those, and same as my other EV requirements...I can make it work at 10-15k difference. At 15k+ it doesn't make financial sense to switch at all.

Currently the drive to work is EV, free charge included with parking, and drive home is free EV. So it works out...until everyone returns to the office, and I'll have to get there super early to charge up.

I'm the poorest vehicle there....Tesla Y, Tesla Y, Tesla Y, Chevy Volt...

Did you guys get the Si yet? How does your wife like it? Or am I confusing things again? When will you get the Niro?

EDIT: Just for kicks I took a look at the NiroEV...with my assumed trade of 15k...those numbers work for me at less than $300/month in monthly payment.

With the EV range of the Niro, the commute to work will be electric and we’ll be installing a level 2 charger at work so the drive home will also be electric. EV range is 40-45kms and round trip commute is 58kms. I’ll be the only EV at work so I won’t have to fight for the charger, thankfully!
Don’t have the SI yet. Deliver date when we ordered it was “March 21-25” but that changed a couple of weeks ago to “TBD”….which I’m taking as “you’ll get it when you get it.”
Estimated deliver date of the Niro is “mid-August” which I’m taking as “you might get it before the end of the year”.

You'll be the only EV right now! LoL When I first started at a job 6 years ago I was one of 3 cars in the lot...until 6-8 months later when it changed to 7-10 cars, and by the end of my term there it changed to 20+ cars. People were arguing about the charge spots (or lack thereof) and you could see arguments happening more often.

This lot has 16-18 spots, so I assume I'll find a spot majority of the time. Currently there are only 3 other EVs I see. Plus the fact I'm at the office b/w 6:45-7am...I'm not too worried yet.

But that KIA/HYUNDAI option of 385km is tempting me to just go for a test drive. Throw out a stupid number ($260/month) and I'm game lol. They'll never meet it....but we'll see when I'm bored enough.

I own the business and the building - I won’t be fighting over the spot….lol

My buddy's new PU burns about 20 L / 100 Km. A trucker I know burns just a little more on the highway pulling double digit tons.
