People in 1970s did, so we will too. We will not drive less, but will switch to a more efficient cars or even electric.I don't know anyone who cuts down on their consumption of fuel due to price.
It could drive people to more fuel efficient vehicles or more likely into EV at those levels. At more moderate levels, I agree, peoples behaviour will be affected very little.'Make it $5/L.
People will still buy as much as they did at $1

My guess it is more about people at or close to the natural replacement point deciding to go smaller, not so much people rushing out to downsize a vehicle they do not need to replace.Thing is... Switching to a smaller car/electric car might "sound" like a good strategy to ease the pain of high fuel costs, but...
Once you factor in things like depreciation, interest etc. you might still be ahead keeping your hemi and just rationing its use.
I mean you might save a bit on gas, but... You loose big money on selling/trading in our current ride. If you buy new you lose bigly on depreciation as soon as you drive off the lot plus MOAR if you have to borrow to make the purchase...
In any case... Owning/running a car is a money pit. I guess we all have to decide how deep a pit we can live with.
It beats walking though.
But if you are on the market for a new car right now... Or if you are leasing...You loose big money on selling/trading in our current ride.
I know lots of people that left because ‘Canada is going to the shitter’. So they went to greener pastures.
Many came back because it ain’t as pretty as they thought when they had to live there instead of being tourists for a month at a time.

Trying to hit 3,000km/tank again on the Volt…currently around 1500km.Or... If you're lucky like me and have your 4.6L V8 Crew Cab pickup totaled in a wreck.
'Replace with a 4cyl econo box... Spent $40/week on gas rather than $140... Lol
I may look like Mr. Bean driving down the road, but honestly... I don't care whether gas is $1.10 or $1.48.

Housing prices are driving people out of the city. Gas prices won't let them drive back in. Public transit sucks. At $5/l you drive poor people out of the market.
The number of children's Presto passes will go up.

Spoiled how? So it's better to be burdened with expensive fuel just because everyone else is charging more? We're spoiled...
'Too used to cheap gasoline.
Public transit sucks.
Pretty sure the gas shortage in the 70's was rigged.People in 1970s did, so we will too. We will not drive less, but will switch to a more efficient cars or even electric.

We have first past the post, and enough stupid people, to get us to where we are now.Only dictators only get 100% of the vote. Cosplay dictators don't.
