FZ6R luvver

Hey everybody!!! I'm Daphne, my friend Seven referred me here, so here I am!

I was at the motorcycle/tattoo show this past weekend, got an amazing deal on a helmet that matches my jacket AND a package deal from Suzuki of Newmarket for my FZ6R and lessons. My initial finance application got rejected because of something that had been in collections, I'm guessing because of my past history with fu@#en Telus **********, so I'm waiting on my dad to see if he'll co-sign. I've wanted an FZ6R for a really long time, after combing through various motorcycle magazines, blogs etc. I figure it's a good compromise for my equal desires for cruising and sport riding. In terms of insurance, I've heard that Rider's Choice is great, because they pro-rate for when you're not riding during the winter, so the cold season payments are lower. Any feedback from others? I also have my heart set on a pair of pink and white alpine gloves that match my ICON Hooligan jacket and helmet perfectly - any word on best prices in town or online or even used?

I'm wondering too if there's anyone here who's willing to let me get to know a FZ6R up close and personal. Not ride, but just to get familiar with how everything's laid out on that bike. Learning from a book is only so effective for me, I have to experience what I'm learning.

Looking forward to riding with some of you!

welcome

as for insurance it really depends on how old you are, what class license you hold and how long you've had it.

pro-rating btw means that the payments are evenly spread out over 12 months, however you use up majority of your coverage in the summer months, so that if you cancel for winter you'll be getting back peanuts.

I guess I used the wrong term then, from what the one guy explained to me, the insurance payments during the winter months with Rider's Choice are lower.

Welcome. Make sure you get an insurance quote before you buy anything BTW.
How do I get an insurance quote when I don't have a bike yet? Do I just call around, tell them my age and what bike I want? I wouldn't have my licence yet because lessons were/are part of my package deal.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Where do you all ride? Any of you have a FZ6R? Anyone willing to let me get to know their bike a bit (where all the controls etc. are laid out, not necessarily riding lessons) as I learn from the motorcycle handbook? :newb:

Yes, call around and tell them your age and the bike you want; tell them the truth about your license, ask them to quote you on M1 and M2 (you'll eventually get there after your lessons). <-- Is this a full MTO course?

Just keep lurking... *ahem* looking at the forum posts and you'll find quite a few places where there's a gathering. There might be a few people willing to show you their bikes.

I had a FZ6R as my first bike, I totally enjoyed it, it's a good beginner bike, I am sure you will love it. And welcome to the forum!

So I called around and the best quote I got so far was from Rider's Plus (which is also conveniently located really close to where I live) and the worst was from Duffy, at over $4000/yr!!!! WTF?!

Lolz, thanks for the tip ;)

How long did it take for you to get really familiar with your FZ6R? What were some of the typical things about it in terms of handling?

I see from your signature that you recently sold a 2009 FZ6R, do you have warranties with your used bikes?

How much was it with riders plus?

How much was it with riders plus?

only $1427!!! I know my insurance is going to be a bit higher being that my bike will be a 600 and I'm a new rider...

Welcome to the forum. Not sure if this is what you are refer to but the control (signal, starter, etc are pretty standard)

Yup, that's what I mean by "controls", thanks! I know that these kinds of things are pretty standard, but it would still mean something to me to get familiar in person with a FZ6R. Do you happen to have one?

Re: FZ6R ladder

I have a 2011 FZ6R, you are more than welcome to check it out.

That's GREAT! Thank you! I'll p.m. you for deets...

Re: FZ6R ladder

Had one a few years ago. Worked great.
It does get buzzy around 105 kmh. If you swap the front sprocket with a +1 it really smooths things out at highway speed.
Bike is capable for sure, good for sport touring.
Suspension is very basic - can't do many adjustments to it.
Lots of aftermarket support available now.
Enjoyed it while I had it.

Ride around Newmarket/Aurora area all the time, I was thinking of getting a FZ6R- It's a solid looking bike and pretty low to the ground, as well, it's more of a sport tourer so it's an upright position.

I have the non R version but the control is pretty much the same :p feel free to check it out as well if you like :D
