So I removed the christmas reef, and greased the door hinges for no reason today? FAWK!
It's OK - you will meet THE ONE down the road, who will clean your headers and take care of your back door. Just be patient

How did someone's bike autostart and take off?
I've put almost 30,000 on my '06 that I bought about 4 years ago.
The transmission is "notchy", the digital tach almost impossible to read in the glare of a sunny day and I had to cut 3"off the top of my wind screen to reduce wind noise.
It gets over 60 MPG while riding briskly so 330kms before reserve is about the norm.
I think it does everything well and makes a good all rounder. Even loaded down with 40 pounds of camping gear.
As for cleaning the headers - if you think autosol works good get some Mother Mag polish it's a far better product IMNSHO

I use both autosol and mother mag polish - they both don't even come close to some fine grit sandpaper and steel wool.
For tach - one of the main reasons I got 2007 - they have normal tach and digital speedo.
I too thought transmission is notchy but last Sat after takin Lee Park's total control - I change the way I operate clutch, throttle and brakes and my bike feels smooth as butter. I actually pointed out to Dave (instructor) that my throttle is on/off and he told me to wait till the end of class. So I did and I practiced what I learned - no more complaints from me.
Agree - I have all kinds of polishes, buffing compunds, special attachments for drill, etc but nothing works as good as elbow grease+fine grit/steel wool

Most FZ6 would have their steering head bearings replaced with All-Ballz bearings, which should outlast the bike.

Another plus 1 for the All Balls bearings. Originals we're toast at 18k km, the All Balls have been rock solid since
No doubt that sometimes you need a real abrasive (sandpaper/steel wool) but side by side with just elbow grease Mothers is the hands down winner.
That said the more stuff I polish the bigger a fan I am of rattle can finishes.
Digital tach - I wish I could take pictures of what I actually see and send them to the beancounter that figured they would save a few cents over the cost of analogue.

Judging by this comment and few other opinions on the FZ6 forum, I might be the only one, but I personally actually liked the digital tach on the '05 FZ6. Never had a problem seeing it really...

I'll disagree with ya on the polishing. I start off with course wet sand paper and then go finer and finer, and finish it off with Autosol or Mothers. You can't get that mirror shine with just polish when you start off with a rough surface. Well, you could, but it would take a LONG time.
Not only do I do my pipes, I have also polished the frame of my dirt bike to a mirror. That would not have been possible without a good wet sand process before I did my final buffing.
I can read the digital one just fine, but I like the looks of the analog one more.
