FYI Toronto finally going paperless for Property Tax and Utility Bills

I know tax and other bills are not exactly something to get excited about, but can't beat the convenience of this.

I've wanted to do this for long while, and it appears it's finally possible starting in Jan 2023. Not sure why they are not publicly notifying people I just found this out by accident while on the city's website. Maybe the next tax bill would have some message. Curious if other municipalities have already been paperless?

Anywho this is good news as the only paper bills I get are Property Tax, Utility Bill, and vechicle insurance. 2 now have been eliminated. (y)

My municipality does paper property tax and online water/sewer. Until the last billing cycle, they did something stupid and annoying. They would send an email that the bill would be visible when you logged in more than three business days after the email. Wtf. A reminder to check in the future? Last billing cycle they finally fixed that and sent a "your bill is available now" email.

Now it would be great if they could improve the pre-auth withdrawal account change process where everything would also be online. Today, its fill out a form, include a blank voided cheque (who uses cheques?), get the form stamped by the Bank, mail it in and wait 6 weeks. Geez.

I just signed up for hydro one pad. Type in account number, click OK, done.

I have never had anything stamped by bank for pad. Online banking has a void cheque you can print or submit as a pdf.

I'm talking about the municipal process for PAD on your Utility Bill or Municipal property Tax bill, not a private concern like Hydro one. Of course, private industry is much more advanced than public sector in these areas.
