I am not sure what kind of frame slider this guy uses, but it looks like the damage was pretty bad, the slider held up good though not much damage there on the slider itself but the bike looks bad.

by way of a test that is highly unlikely to ever happen (if youre going by the motorcyclist article).

I was referring to the motorcyclist article. Their designed test is the most likely to happen. Snell smashes he helmet against a machined anvil. In the Motorcyclist article the helmet is smashed against a piece of asphalt. Dunno where you ride, but I usually see more asphalt than machined anvils on the street.

are there some secret protective device inside expensive helmets that we aren't aware of? cheaper snell or expensive snell. snell is snell.

Depends on what materials the helmet is made from. Most cheaper brands use a plastic material to protect your head, where the more expensive brands will use composite or a fiberglass shell. There are differences. Look it up if you want more info.
