Isn't Goodman a rebranded Carrier or Lennox?

Yep, Goodman is owned by Lennox. But they are not alike.

Hmmm, I was under the impression that they were of same kind of quality, just a lower level. Like entry level. I have a KeepRite ac, they own ArcoAire. Mine comes with insulated dual stage fan, the other doesn't.

Interesting, as i called Enbridge about having a furnace upgrade done. They sent a guy out who talked numbers.

Now i understand Enbridge may subcontract the work out to a diff company but it was Enbridge that was gonna pocket the $$.

In the end i went with the same furnace Enbridge was pushing, but bought it in US for half the price. 95% dual stage, inverter driven fan Goodman. While i now know Goodman is not the best name in business, it lasted 4 years we were in that house with zero issues and i suspect will run for a long time.

Enbridge quoted me $4500 +tax for a Goodman 93% single stage 40k btu furnace. I ended up getting a Goodman 2 stage 95% 48k btu that I purchased myself. I bought it off of some distributor who's number I got from a member on here. I paid $1800 taxes in and spent a little over $200 on install parts (636 venting, and the ducting transition). I had it re and re'd in 3 hours.

There is really nothing to it. 2 vents, 1 gas line, 1 main electrical connection, thermo stat wires, a drain tube and the main stack. Check your local building code for requirements, like the distance between vent pipe hangers and stuff like that. Home Depot has code books in their reference books sections.

Just to add, a comparable Lennox or Carrier would have been almost $3g's. The original furnace was a Lennox and it made it 17 years before crapping out. The Goodman has a 10 year warranty and the Lennox was 12 or 15 so not a whole lot better.

Are you sure they didn't put you off to direct energy. We haven't installed units since we sold our home services to direct energy. I just spoke to a customer supervisor and he confirmed we don't install or service them.
