Fuel Stabilizer - Which one do you use?

I've heard people say drain your carbs, and other saying it is not necessary. Will it make a huge difference is one doesn't drain the carbs?

Never had to drain them the past couple of winters. As long as you add the fuel stabiliser and run the bike long enough to have the mixture get to your carbs you should be ok.

my bike surges and sputters on 94 octane, just hates the crap. also ive been using the pink stuff for years and not once have i had an issue starting my bike. even in my old carbd bike she fired up. i stored my gixxer from the beginning of sept last year till april and she fired up no problem with the pink stuff. just make sure you top up your tank after running it through the system so it doesnt start to rust on the inside

Bronsondm: you actually don't even need to put stabilizer in since it'll be away for what... 4 months?

+1
I don't use fuel stabilizer in bike, car, lawn mower or gas trimmer. 5-6 months is not long for fuel.

Always used Seafoam for years. No issues. Carbed or fuel injected.

I always use 94 petro, I haven't had an issue in the 4 years/40k km I've owned and ridden my bike. Bike is a 05 zx6r 636

Every year I:
1) plug in my battery tender
2) fill the tank to the top with 94 petro
3) put in 11L worth of fuel stabilizer
4) place my bike on stands
5) put a thin coat of wax on all the body
6) oil all moving parts (and most metallic parts)
7) clean and lube the chain
8) clean and oil air-filter (K&N)
9) change my oil (and filter if past 4k km)
10) run the bike for 2 minutes (after i shake the fuel stabilizer in)
11) put a cover on it

Come spring, I take it off the stands, pull the cover off and I'm ready to go. A few weeks into spring I'll change my coolant, brake oil (pads if required), and will run some seafoam.

Agreed. Not only does it stabilize the fuel but it helps keep the carbs clean.

3) put in 11L worth of fuel stabilizer

That HAS to be a typo, or you have the largest gas tank on any bike in the world (possibly more than a train) lol.

I think I might give seafoam a try. I have such bad bad luck with winter storage :(

BTW, that's with 87 octane containing ethanol. No issues in the spring. Starts up with no problem then I ride till I hit reserve so that I get the full benefit of the seafoam that I had put in.

All 87 octane fuels in Ontario contain a large percentage of Ethanol. The ONLY grades of gasoline that do NOT contain ethanol are Shell 91 and Ultramar 91.

I've used Stabil and CTC brand red stuff with regular grade gas and haven't had any problems in over 2 decades. Now just watch next spring I'll have a problem.

You're right and I know that. I just meant to say that I don't don't even bother filling up with non ethanol 91 octane for storage and I've had no problems. My engine isn't designed for it. Runs hot and ruins the plugs.

BTW, you can get non-ethanol 87 octane at an independent gas station on the N.E. corner of Clarke and Huron St's in London, ON.

I have a 2011 ninja 250 and this will be the first time I winterize my bike. How much fuel stabilizer should I put in my full tank of gas?

Seafoam. 1 once per gallon. Your owners manual should have your gas tank's capacity in gallons and litres.
