So just a quick question so I can weigh my options as to which fuel stabilizer I should look into purchasing when I have to winterize my bike this winter season. Which brands do you all use and where do you purchase it?

Thanks for the help!

the one at canadian tire...lol

its not a magical thing...some users will tell you to only use X brand or Y brand, all the same crap...keep in mind your storing your bike from what november to like march, thats not long...just use whatever you see first or is on sale...

Lol, works for me, I'll go to my local CT and see what they have! Thanks bud

Stabil Marine Grade (NOT the pink stuff!).

I hear ya, I'm a 94 Octane kinda guy myself.
94 octane is the worst fuel, for your bike in general, AND for storage especially!

Buy shell premium (no ethanol) and put some cheap Canadian tire stuff in it - you'll have no problems in the spring.

Wash the bike, put a fresh coat of wax if you want.

If you have carbs, drain them.

Put the battery on a tender, fill the tires with air (or better yet keep them off the ground via jack stands).

Done till spring.

Or do what I do, never wash your bike and ride it all year :)

94 octane is *****...i just always hear good things about the quality of fuel with petro. didnt know it had more or less ethanol than the next guy
and hear that esso's standards are sub par...all hearsay of course

94 octane is not good, its like a false 94. they achieve that rating from the extra ethanol..or something

I've heard people say drain your carbs, and other saying it is not necessary. Will it make a huge difference is one doesn't drain the carbs?

I use seafoam as a fuel stabilizer. Always fill up using shell 91 octane (no ethanol) and storage is no different.

I wouldn't use 94 octane because of the ethanol content. Ethanol will sometimes create running issues for motorcycle engines. Also, it has less energy per volume than 'straight' gasoline.

also: I only use 91 octane because my bike requires it. If your bike needs 87, than going with 91 octane will NOT increase power. All it will do is decrease the amount of money in your wallet.

Okay hear is the skinny if the carbs are drained they the fuel cant form into varnish and clog the tiny pilot jets and other channels. Adding the fuel treatment is supposed to stop the varnish from happening

I have also heard from some that draining them can cause seals to dry and cause problems there. The Mysteries of motorcycle maintanance.

It to much of a pain to drain my carbs so i use treatment

I forgot to put stabilizer one year...come spring it still fired right back up and had no problems.
I think you got bad luck jamie

It's good for boosted cars, makes roughly 8-10 extra hp when tuned properly.

Really?! Why is that? Should i stick with 91 octane?
What does your user manual say your bike needs? 91? If so, run Shell 91 (or WAY cheaper Ultramar 91!). ALL other brands have ethanol in their fuel.

That's kinda true. 94 DOES have A LOT of ethanol in it, which helps resist detonation, that's why it's rated 94 (read: for use in extra high compression engines, or ones with forced induction i.e. turbo/supercharger), but ethanol has a lot less energy available than gasoline, so in a bike designed for 91 you'll usually get slightly less power and less fuel economy with 94 verus say no-ethanol Shell 91. Not to mention all that ethanol will absorb moisture and cause crap to build up on your fuel injectors, etc.
