fuel leak from small hole in petcock

Hi everyone,

Is there any fix to prevent a fuel leak from the small hole in the side of the petcock on a 2000 sv650s?

I had a chinese one, it leaked, I recently ordered a used OEM petcock. I finally got around to installing it and it's also leaking.

Used OEM was probably taken out of service for failed gasket (or it failed in storage). I'd be inclined to take one of them apart and see what path the gas was taking and what the purpose of that hole is. The cheapest/easiest "fix" is jam some JB weld in that hole. That stops the drip. I'm not sure of the implications to operation as I have no idea what the hole is for.

Oh well, it's only time and money, both of which are unlimited.

Take apart the chinese one you have on the bench to see if you can identify issues.

IF the screw mounting holes are 33mm apart (which I think they are) just get a manual petcock from a Yamaha Banshee ATV (see: Amazon or Winner's Circle), plug off the vacuum hose and remember to turn it on and off. They run about $50, problem solved forever. Same for DRZ400 and KLR650.
