Front and Rear Stands for a Bike - Any Recommendations?

Have someone show you how to adjust them properly. If the stand has pins/adapters make sure you use the proper one for your bike. If the stand is a solid piece and you have to bend them to fit...make sure you take the time to do it properly. I've also see a few rear stands that the Y piece for the spools are funny shaped causing swing arm scratches if not used carefully.

I've got BVPs. My front stand is a triple tree stand (like this). I picked up my set from Rider's Choice. I think I paid about $200, but I bought them on separate occasions. The triple tree stand is awesome if you're doing extensive work on the front/forks.

does your bike has spools? if not, u will need to get those fitted as well. OR make sure the stand has the rubber thing which could go under the frame of the bike to lift it up. also make sure the specific stand you buy would work for your bike. sometimes they come with different or adjustable pins.
 
I've got two sets of Hindle stands (front and rear) and like them; one piece design, compact, and they work. Saying that, I'd LOVE a set of Pit Bulls... but then with all the reviews of the Gorilla / Venom stands, if I were buying them today I'd probably go that route.

Thanks - good advice. I'm assuming I will have to assemble them once they arrive.

This is a good point. Yup I picked up and already installed spools on it.

Tap the stand by running it over with a pick up truck a few times and see if it maintains its shape? The guy in the pitbull demo said you could pick up a trailor with that thing if you needed to, and then he quickly said but don't try it. lol!
 
Agree with Redrock on stands,I've got Hindles,a Pitbull and a Baxley.If you know a welder you can make the Princess Auto Baxley knock off great, for 1/3 rd the price of a Baxley.I don't like to take a chance with a cheap stand for the front
 
I can't really comment on the other brands, but when I researched for rear stands, it seemed pit bull was the one everyone had high praise for.
I recently got the pit bull rear stand (with removable handle)...the pin that locks the handle in place is a little finicky...but otherwise not a big issue.
The removable handle is a good option, if you have limited space.(just got to be careful removing the handle when the bike is on the stand)

Even though I usually research things thoroughly, I bought this stand, and didn't realize that the top mount was only spooled.
I had wanted the spooled/standard top mount combo... no biggie though, the place I bought it from is ordering the combo top mount for me for an extra $15.
I figure the option for spooled or standard top mount is good to have, especially for future bikes.

btw, you mentioned that you might get the pit bull if you get a ducati....don't you have enough love for the ninja now? :) ....Team Green represent!
besides, if you get the "rolls royce of motorcycle stands" now, you won't have to buy twice....(and no I don't work for pit bull)

edit: I made the incorrect assumtion that if you were to get a pit bull now, that it'd be compatible with your future ducati...
but it might not be (research first), so just keep that in mind...wouldn't want you to spend money, without knowing all the facts.

As I have stated in my earlier post, I stored my bike on these stands for two seasons now and never problems.

Here is a picture of some spools:

The part that is supported on the stand is the spool and they usually come with screws to mount on your swingarm.
If your swingarm doesn't have the holes for the spools, you can get paddle type adapters that will lift your swingarm from the bottom.

.....And if anyone ever borrows or uses your stands, make sure you check that they have been re-adjusted for your bike :D SORRRRRYYYY lol my bad.

So I bough the Venom stand set for 69.99 from kapscomoto. It's been delivered and now I don't need it anymore.... if anyone wants to buy it off me - still in box never opened. PM me.
