He's worried about theft rates, what can he do? I told him to not post pictures and stuff on facebook and keep it on the down low. As long as no one knows where he lives it should be okay? He was also thinking about shoving it infront of his van and other car so that it would be harder to take out.

Alarm + theft insurance. He doesn't need to be worried so much about people on the forums and FB scoping out his ride, more so than his neighbours. Parked in an underground, it's a theft opportunity.

Tell him to get theft insurance just in case. I'd have it even if I had a house with a garage... bikes go missing from all sorts of places.

That being said, my bike has been in my condo parking lot for over 2 years with no issues. I do the best I can to protect it, but jerks who steal stuff can be pretty determined.

you will lose it. i did. only get a bike if you can secure a safe place. like a friend with a garage. insurance will not replace your time or that feeling when your heart is huge knowing its gone. or get some junk

canuck -
2009 aprilia rs125 2nd year

Are you in and around the area of Eglinton / Kennedy? Just outta curiosity, because some one keeps ripping around my area on a 2 stroke street bike and I believe its a rs 125 (red/white/black?)

How accessible are storage units inside condos? Can they store a motorcycle? Is it easily accessible to the garage?

Are certain areas known to have higher theft rate than others? My friend lives in a fairly Asian condo area, and it's mostly paranoid mothers; I'd say that might be a good thing.

But yeah I understand what you're saying, I'd store it for him in the winter for sure but it wouldn't make much sense if he had to come to my place every time he wanted to ride.

And I have a German Sheppard that never stfus. It also, for some reason, hates strangers. I usually have to kick him out into the backyard if my folks or I have some unknown friends over; one of my friends tried to pet him once and he tried to bite his neck, he also has an alpha male problem (I have to try very hard to make sure he doesn't murder little dogs, he's friendly with big dogs though). Long story short, I wouldn't get theft insurance in my house lol (Parking outside though is another story).

do a search on here, you will see lots of "my sport bike got stolen from a condo" threads.

there are things you can do to help prevent it (chains, cables, alarms, covers, etc) and that may help but you will also see occasionally some one having all that and still losing the bike. if i lived in a condo i wouldn't buy a supersport,

Bottom line if a thief wants something bad enough, he will get it.The goal is to deter the spur of the moment thief from an "opportunity" to steal. Face it we all lock our doors when we leave but thieves still get in, what does it take . Just try to leave very visible theft deterents that make the thief says" F#*k it this one looks too hard" and hope for the best.
