Just a general heads up, realized tomorrow is a Friday the 13th and it hasn't been mentioned yet. Looks like the city will be open to bikers

Before everyone chimes in, yes it sucks, yes there's a thongman, yes there's a lot of saggy skin.

Sturgis-lite in a pandemic, hard pass.

I'll probably go and do what I normally do there, wander around and look at some bikes. Zero interest in the packed bars with crappy rock music.

If the whole Main St is packed, I'm out.

For me these large scale meets never offered any appeal, so I'll easily miss another one.

What's all this pirate talk?

From my office I can hear many bikes rolling through on there way to Dover (I suspect) As in the article above I think many will question if the trip was worth it this year...

Dover was a good party many yrs ago, Now it’s a place to push t-shirts

Nothing wrong with selling T-Shirts at events, concerts or even in dealerships.
But this year, I don't think Dover will see many vendors at all..

Here is how it started.

Port Dover hosts tens of thousands of people every Friday the 13th for the Friday the 13th motorcycle rally, which was started on 13 November 1981 by a local bike shop owner named Chris Simons at what was then the Commercial Hotel on Main Street.

But as to the "why" I am not sure.. Does there need to be a why?

Started in 1981.A few friends decided to ride to Port Dover from Hamilton. When they got there, they realized it was Fri 13th. They made it stick.

Thanks!

I guess the "why" and the "what" are substitutes in this particular case. There's no "why" to a ride.
Perhaps, why Friday, the 13th. Wingman's comment answered that.
