I got a free welding table I have no room for but it's perfect size for the laundry room. I'd like to knock the loose rust off and coat it in the "rust converter". Has anybody used the "rust converter"? Can I use it as a top coat to give it that olde tyme funky look or is this idea just Marvin G.?

I will take your free welding table. PM address for pickup.

I already have a pickup.

use a wire wheel.

use a wire wheel.

Wouldn't that remove most of the rust? I want to convert the rust. The converted rust will be the top coat. Wondering if anybody has done that. Will give 'til noon, then youtube and google.

Leave it "as is" and buy a steel plate to cover the top. Better conductance for your welds if the ground is attached right to it ;)

Ce n'est pas terrible?

Bloody 'ell! I'm going to have the coolest rat rod laundry table on the block. If I have to explain style.......

I once had a coffee table that did some soldering and light brazing. I've never had furniture that could stick weld though.

I used the 'rust converter' stuff on a cast iron keel, but its always been then coated with interprotect2000 , an epoxy coat. I do frequent a pub that has it as a style element, looks fine.

I get your sense of style, my caveat would be folding your frillies on a former welding table and the whites not staying white.

Too much drama. Unsubscribed.

If you can find a big enough "container" to submerge it in piece by piece look into chelation (vinegar will work) or electrolytic de-rusting. Both will work better or as good as the commercial solutions. I use both on a regular basis for rust.

Let us know how much the free table costs you. I want to see if your free stuff costs less than mine. TIME and material.
