Personal experience I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. We hired one as a nanny and got a good look at how she and her friends live and abuse the system. I was surprised how open they are and how they. know the numbers and when to have the next kid She went back to welfare after a month as it was easier. She even got free childcare as she was such a poor parent her 4yr old couldn't speak properly after spending 10 hours a day in front of the TV no wonder.

Thats not welfare, thats 'baby bonus' or whatever its called now (Child Benefit?)

And I can add that 3/4 of my ex's family was on welfare and had no intentions or finishing high school and/or getting a job...started with their mom and ended with both sisters...no incentive to get off of it unfortunately...the two sisters also had boyfriends who did work live with them, but of course, none of that income was claimed...they just kept having kids and collecting more money...I also had a friend who one year was appalled that she wasn't getting a tax refund (I did the H&R Block income tax course and did my friends' taxes a few years)...I tried explaining how she didn't work and didn't pay taxes to begin with, so how did she expect to get a refund! OH VEY!
 
My wife witnessed many in her working career , social housing , child care benefits , welfare checks , food bank groceries , furniture bank for beds . Sometimes they move in together to share resources , baby daddy has an under the table job , it’s a lifestyle . It’s a problem that’s not easily solved . And they know exactly how the “system” works .
