Went to go throw out the garbage and found these guys inside. There are 4 of them in there.

They didn't seem the least bit afraid of me, or the fact I was almost throwing garbage ontop of them. They actually seemed a bit ****** that I woke them up.

I hope they don't get dumped on Tuesday.

You might want to call the Oakville Humane Society and get them to check the bin out to see if the inhabitants are still there.. if it's picked up, and they are still in there - they will get fatally compacted in the truck.

If they are in there, the OHS will relocate them.

Awwwwwww! I love raccoons. :)

Yes, please call Animal Control so they'll be dealt with and not squished.

According to animal control (i just typed aminal) it is illegal to transport a coon more than 1 mile for relocation. I bring my coons to him to be shot. quicker and more humane than drowning, plus he pays for the bullet and disposes of the carcass (illegal for garbage pickup). they are overpopulated and as cute (they look very cuddly) and smart as they are they are vermin, not domesticated animals.

so either way they will be dealt with, one way will be quicker.

They can be nasty little critters. i had one as a pet when i was a kid in the east coast. they are like a cat when they are tamed

I worked at a place that had the same problem, they kept getting stuck in there cause they are too fat to jump and can't climb the sidewall out.

It became my job to get them out every day.
The solution is quite simple, get an empty palette and toss it in so they can climb out.
Sometimes they are so smart, and sometimes they do stupid things.
Now that i think about it, maybe they kept coming back because they knew i would rescue them in the morning lol.

the pallet/skid trick works.

or pile on the garbage bags and he will crawl out....

Meh, I was thinking maybe a dead hooker.

I love raccoons, always wanted one as a pet.

I worked at a provincial park in the summer doing maintenance, and I found all sorts of stuff in the garbage. I got myself a nice stereo with speakers, a Barbecue, plus there were brand new tents, a VCR player, Boombox, TV, and other stufff. I really don't get how people can just throw stuff out, plus who brings a vcr, and a full electrical stereo camping?

Guilty. But I don't throw them out.

Had one take up residence in my garbage or recycling bin. My wife got a surprise when she went to toss something in. Tipping the box over with the lid open, and banging a hockey stick on the side and then leaving it for a while solved the issue.

As for Yetti's suggestion: feeding them won't get rid of them.

(i do not condone poisoning them as no poison i know of is fast and humane).

I had mice in my last appartment and it was horrible cus I put out poison and every week I would have to refill the bin and they weren't dying. Eventually it stopped but the next year they were back. I opted to catch them and release them outside. Was sooo aborable to come home the next day to find two mice huddled outside my door. I got a cage and kept them from then on.
