Found A Honda Hornet 599- Opinions!

The honda is a great bike, but in this case I would go with the Yamaha. Its more setup for touring (might not be what you want out of a bike) with the hard bags and extended windshield. Hard bags are really fantastic, once you have them you wonder how you ever did without.

Both bikes are good, I think the value is better int he FZ6, the 599 seems a bit high. List price is always flexible though, you can for sure bring them down a bit.

i have never seen a fair priced 599 on kijiji, so I just stopped trying. That is way over priced at 4500 imho, and its a bit of a lowball at 3500 but I would try that anyways.

How tall are you? When I tried on a 599 I found it really cramped, the FZ6 is a lot roomier, I'm 5'10 btw.

Either way, that price is too high for both I'd say. Though if the FZ6 comes with Givi hard bags and mounts, you can part them out for a good chunk which would make the price fair. The '07+ FZ6 is slightly revised, that's the model I'd suggest to go with if there isn't a big price difference. I'd peg both of them at about $3500 (more for the FZ6 if it does have hard luggage, that stuff is expensive!)

Nothing wrong with carbs (599) but I went with FZ6 2007.
It is FI and had numerous minor revisions which makes it a better buy compared to 2006 and older. For me main selling point for 07 was analogue tach. I saw good digital tachs - for example I liked one on 848 but on pre-2006 FZ6 - I just could not stand it
But I do love the look of the hornet! If it is not your first bike and u have experience - why not look at 919? FI, plenty of power and I love under seat pipes

yep, it is pricey - I spent close to 1000 on my hard bags setup (top and side cases)

I can't speak about the FZ6, but I own a 599. The price on that 599 is too high, I think people are just taking advantage of the fact that it's a rare bike. I picked mine up for under 3K in February, the folks that listed theirs for 4-5K can wait but those bikes are not selling and they're not getting any younger either. As for ergonomics, I can't speak to that, i just put plates on my bike, rode it around town a bit yesterday and it felt ok, not cramped or anything like that but I haven't gotten it on the highway yet (too cold last night). I'm 6' tall BTW

Both bikes are overpriced. Go down to the States and pick up the same bike for $1000 less. check out crazedlist.org which is craigslist on steroids. After you find a bike and negotiate the price, when you pick it up tell the seller to put a lower price on the buy/sell form so that you pay a lower tax when you bring it to Canada, but don't go overboard. Keep it real.
I picked up a 2008 SV650 with 5k kms on board, about a year ago from Ohio for $4000. Rode it for the whole season, put on it about 10k and then sold it for $5500 here.
