Ford Ranger for motorcycle transport?

before i bought a full size econoline I have to look at a Dodge sprinter, there has to be some of them coming off lease now, they have standing headroom, tie downs, really impressive mileage and actually drive well, I've taken one a few times from T.O. to Sudbury.
I'd look into a used enclosed trailer if i was heading south for the winter, i like the idea of traveling around sans toolboxes and fuel smells in a minivan.
Be careful of pimping out the trailer (or the van) with too many stickers and logos that tell people there may be big toolboxes and expensive parts inside. Scum see the Ontario plates and know you dont have a lot of time to hang around Ohio or Kentucky filling out police reports.

Whatever route you go make sure your insurance will cover the whole cargo/tools/bikes if anything bad happened.

I had an S10 that I used to haul my track bike around. HATED IT. Getting it on and off was a pain, once it was in there there wasnt much room left in the box for the generator and tools and a cooler and stuff like that. My advice since is always get whatever car/truck you want, put a hitch on it and get a lightweight trailer. It works out better in every way

My buddy that does track only has a Ranger, he brought my bike home for me last November cause it was snowing the day I went to get it. He has two of the metal ramps and walks up one of them while bringing the bike up on the other.

Thanks for all the responses, assuming I'm approved for financing I have myself a brand new truck as of next week!

I used to use an S10 (Sonoma) 2 wheel drive with a 7 1/2 foot long box. It was great for loading bikes because the 2 wheel drive model was nice and low, and the long box allowed for the tailgate to easily be closed. Also it rode nicer because the long box model had a longer wheel base.
