For those complaining about local used by prices look at this.

Only three? how does he know for sure how many are on the island? That's a nice bike though to bad they can't just go south like here to save thousands.

Why is a thread about used by prices in the general motorcycle discussion thread?

I assume that the ad is meant to appeal to those "I want it all, I want it now" types, with too much money, and not enough other things.

he says its not a replica and the closest thing to the factory race bike. I thought that was the Desmo...

Heh.. And that's why "I'm living my (motorcycle) dream " here in nth America ! ;)

Technically there is no asking price in the ad, only a request for offers.

Maybe his wife is on his case to sell the bike. He can honestly say, the bike is for sale, just no takers. Its summer in NZ at the moment, so I'm sure he won't mind if it doesn't sell for a while.

NZ, Austrailia, Singapore, Malaysia etc. have very high import taxes, hence the very high price. You pay to play over there..

I love the 1198 over the 1199 or the Desmo...
Based on looks only, not like I actually ridden any of them.:(

So where it says "Asking price: $1,000,000" and "not joking about the one mil", means what exactly?

Read again , its says "JUST joking about the 1,000,000"........ and goes on the say , RRP is $73,000. in New Zealand, he is looking for OFFERS.

And we tend to ride year round too

New goes for 73490 NZ$ which is around 58000 CA$....with the high duties and import taxes along with the rarity of the bike....that seems reasonable for brand new. He's only looking for offers which will definitely be less than that. Now...why were you looking at a used bike in NZ? LOL...j/k

What are you doing looking at Trademe.co.nz?

Also remember that a bike going to or from Canada/NZ might have to have the headlight assembly changed over because of the side of the road where it is driven. BTW, aside from tax, I do not think there is any import duty on bikes in NZ. However, even for some new bikes, the prices are much higher than here. You have to think too... it is a tiny market. The whole country has less people than the GTA. The other thing you will find is that their used bikes often have WAY more mileage, but that doesn't seem to scare them off too much, unless you get up to the 6 digits.
