For DIY tire changers, do you reuse your balancing weights?

Alright everybody stfu with the savings, the reason I asked is because I used to get my strips from NAPA which was a 5 min drive from my house. Now they closed that store, and the closest NAPA is at least a half hour drive. Plus I've had these weights fly off as well, I thought maybe people found a better adhesive tape that holds on stronger to the rim. I didn't know you could buy them from bike shops as newman posted, so I bought a couple of strips yesterday from Pro6 Cycle

Easy, I don't care if you use gold to balance your wheels, it was a joke so unbunch your panties and enjoy your new tires.

Brand name wheel weights like Motion Pro for example are $10 for 72pcs or $40 for 360 pieces....At that price I buy a box and it lasts me a year, and there is no sense in trying to reuse a wheel weight worth 20 cents

Lol, sorry buddy, this thread reeks of cheap-assery.

Did you balance the dirt bike wheels as well? I've never felt the need to, even though I run it on pavement most of the time.

I have Marchensini wheels on my dirt bike, so yeah they are balanced when the tires are installed. Well usually just the front...

I've just been asked by a company to experiment with a "throw in" type balancing agent instead of the tape weight process.

Advantages are this is static cling material and re-balances as the tire wears/conditions change.

Its a prototype product thats used in the commercial truck industry and the company wants to make kits/products for all types of bikes, ATV's etc...

I have my own theories on balancing agents but, I agreed to complete the testing as unbiased as possible.

On a side note its nice to see companies working with us "Average Joe's" on product development.

Thats old news, maybe a new company but balancing balls that go in the tire have been around for a long time
I have Dyna beads in my truck tires personally

I know the theory is old, its just a new "style" of kit that will be more convenient more motorcycles. There are some actual product changes as well but you're right the theory is similar.

Seariously, save your money! Get some quarters, dimes and nickels and some gorilla glue and some duck tape. Spin your wheel and when it stops pick a place to put 2 quarters, 2 dimes and one or two nickels, your call. Now get some gorilla glue and cover the coins. Once this dries get your duck (quack) tape and cover the pile of crap you just made. Bet you get the same result for ~$0.80.

This works great when you are short some money at the next meet and want a coffee, just reach down and take what you need but remember to put it back when you get home, you never know when you will need 50 cents or will want to drive at 250 km per hr. give your head a shake, speed wabble or any wabble at any speed is not cool. Spend the 10 bucks!

For all that want a chuckle! Spend the money since there are only two things touching the pavement. Take action on the knowns and you will be better prepared for when the unknown happens!

After pressing the weights on I apply a thin strip of black silicone around them. It doesn't take much. The silicone sticks like snot to a blanket. You actually need dedicated silicone remover to get it off. I think I got that at Home Hardware.

strip of 200mph/gorilla duct tape solves the problem with some new wheel weights.

Unless you're grading the cheese between your toes for texture, taste and smell, I think you mean "grating". Over and out.

And it's over OR out, not both.

Couldn't resist. :)
