For all you Erik Buell fans

If I had 60k to spend on a bike it sure as shhhh wouldn't be a Buell.

Yeh, imagine putting a Harley engine in a 60k bike.
I'll probably get an Aprillia Factory or some sort

FWIW They don't use Harley engines anymore. They now use Rotax engines. There was an article in a recent Cycle World and the bike did sound pretty badass, though the price was list around $30k-ish if I recall correctly, though that was probably the "street" version. Still a lot of dough either way.

You are right. No one would pay 60K for an HD sportsbike.

Erik left HD peacefully and, as I understand it, better off than he was going into HD.

It has been said he has 5 years of ideas for engineering marvels in his head that were not the intellectual property of HD and has the financial backing to turn them into something real. A dealership network is the next thing to build perhaps.

His bikes are made by hand in Minn by a small group of "elves" and he in a genuine nice guy to talk to. It will be fun to watch his progress in the next few years.

.

From what i last read Harley got rid of Buel when the economy got tough. They cut Buel's race funding and ppl who had buel bikes were stuck in a rut because when their bike broke, they couldn't get parts, cuz harley made their parts.

Atleast it now has a motor that can compete. That bike looks amazing! They were always cool but just too slow

Ummm...? What? buel...?? You don't really know...right?...lol. Kinda right but not all

Txs for the link-Ty, I never quite understood this merger, Italian bike manufacturer being bought by a American made/American brand blah blah blah, seems hypocritical-Ty

Not quite. Harley Davidson bought the brand and then recently discontinued production. Now he's back on his own again.
perhaps a good thing, should have lit a fire under his ***, not a fan of the brand however I always bet on the underdogs-Ty

I'm pretty sure one of these if being ridden in the AMA superbike class this year... at least in the recent round from Mid-Ohio Raceway. I think one of the biggest complaints with previous Buells was the unreliability of the engines. Now he's paired up with Rotax might be a different story. They supply engines for some BMW models as well as the Spyder. *****, I'd buy a Buell Firebolt with a Rotax engine in a heartbeat if the price was right.

Harley-Davidson is axing two notable brands as it refocuses on its core business.

The iconic American motorcycle producer said on Thursday that it will kill the 26-year-old Buell brand

The announcement came as Harley revealed its third-quarter financial results, which saw its earnings and sales slip as it deals with the global economic conditions.

So HD did get rid of buell.

And I never discussed anything about MV Agusta
