Follow Along: 600rr to California

So im in some town right now taking a break. It was pretty cold on tye way here. Sinc3 i80 was closed due to icy riad condutions i took a detour. A local told me thAt the detour may be bad too so we looked on the webcam. Looked wet. The bad section was only 5 miles lon so i decided to go. I started wondering if i was crazy when there was black ice everywhere and cars in the ditch. I took it slow and i made it through. Now im just trying to figure out my next move

I hope you got pics of the cars in the ditch. That would be an epic to see.

Be careful and ride safe. Even if you have to delay a day or 2 it might be worth it.

Looks like severe weather north and south of i80 in nebraska. Most of it is south but some spots are developing to the north. Ill get to the 76/i80 junction and check the weather maps again.

I had breakfast with an advrider this morning. He recommended the best route for me to avoid I-80 and showed me the webcam. Note...this was the BEST route.

misadventures like this are the factors that makes a great trip to the trip of a life time

I absolutely LOATHE the cold with every fiber of my being, want nothing to do with it ever in my life ever, but that being said, biglandfarm is right in that it's the unknown that makes a trip like this worth doing. You'll remember the snowstorm that blocked your route, but you'll never remember the 100 km before or after you hit it.

Haha yup, now I can say I've ridden through a snowstorm, hail, and black ice.

I literally felt like I was riding through winter today. Snow was everywhere.

I kind of wanted to do the Nelson "HA-HA" as I passed by. I dont think the state patrol would have appreciated that though.

Why is that? You seem to have a good time. Are you tired? Exhausted? Short on money? Sore butt? Or just plain bored?

Theres nothing really to look forward to for a 2500km slab :(

You're screwed if you try riding into a spring storm system like that. Wait for it to move east.

Found out the hard way. lol
